Hello all,
Well it's 1:30am Virgnia Beach time and I'm still extremely jet lagged after flying all the way from Brisbane only a few days ago... you'd think being on holidays I would be able to drag myself away from the computer but everyone else is sleeping and I'm bored so EDS here I am!!
One good thing about having a long distance boyfriend is that you don't have to admit how much money you spend on beauty & skincare products but these three months are going to be a test... I think I'm going to be outed as a product junkie!!!! Unless I can get to the mail before he gets home from work muuuahahahaha.
Anyway, does anyone have any ideas to get rid of this jetlag?? I don't want to get into a pattern where I keep sleeping during the day and then stay up all night. I tried to stay awake today but I decided I'd take a little nap after lunch... the little nap turned into a 7 hour marathon sleep |

The best way is to just force yourself to stay up and not give into taking a 'quick nap'. It's hard but it's the quickest way I know of resetting a sleep schedule. Also, spend a few minutes outside in the sun as soon as you wake up to cue your body. Of course, this is coming from a girl typing on a forum at nearly 3 am, so take this advice accordingly. |

Yeah, I think like chimera said you need to reset the clock- so do 'normal' things that correspond to the time of day in the US, so have breakfast etc at proper times, even if it feels like middle of night to you. Also try not to nap, but if you must the best naps are taken before three pm- think this interrupts your night time sleep less. Anyway, you will be over it soon (maybe even by the time you read this).
Have a lovely time with long-distance boyfriend. Best wishes with beating him to the mailbox the whole trip! |

Sunlight is the best medicine for jetlag... I think I read once that it is extra good if it hits the back of the knees, but I can't remember where I heard that... Don't worry, the jetlag will pass! |

Yes, the best thing that you can do for jetlag is to force yourself to get on the schedule for where you are. Also exercising for me always helps. Find a gym close by & sign up for a trial guest membership (usually 1-2 weeks). You'll have to take the tour & listen to the whole spiel, but it's worth it if it's a nice facility. Or rent a bike & go cycling or walking. Or get the b/f to give you some good marathon sex. Always works for me!) You'll sleep like a baby & feel ten times better the next day! If sleeping is difficult for you, go to GNC & get some melatonin. It's cheap (like $5)& should help get you back on a good sleep cycle. Also, stay away from alcohol & caffeine for at least a day & just drink water. Flying really dehyrates you.
I don't know...that's all that worksfor me. Good luck!

Ok it's been 6 days now and I think I'm almost back to normal. The apartments my bf lives at actually have a gym, though I havent used it yet but the last 2 days I've gone for a walk after breakfast and got some sunlight, then tried to stay busy for the rest of the day so I don't have time for a nap!! I'm still tired by 8:30ish which is very early for me, but I'm starting to adjust (my bf gets up for work at 4:30am which doesnt help matters as I find it hard to go back to sleep when he leaves!!). Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated
pbsadhaka I'll still keep your suggestion in mind too hehehehe |

Hehehe I should mention that "keeping busy" yesterday involved doing some serious r&d at the local MAC counter I'm supposed to be rationing my money out over the 3 months I'm staying here seeing as though I couldnt get a working visa for the US.... My bf was not too impressed with the US$18 I spent on the brush needed to apply my MAC fluidline eyeliney stuff I also found a lovely store called Bath & Body Works where I got some very generous samples of new things that I don't really need to try! |

Princesita,
what samples did you get at B&B W and do you like any? I have one nearby but I never tried anything there. |

I love their "Warm Vanilla Sugar" fragrance. It's one of the few there that are not overwhealmingly strong. |

I know this is late and you don't need it now, but drinking lots of water really helps with jetlag. |
