Hi,

I have picked at a mole on my forehead (don't ask!! long story - but I decided that I don't like it anymore and thought I could just pick it off!) and now it won't stop bleeding. It isn't pouring with blood or anything, but it won't cease. At the moment I have a wedge of tissue pushed onto it to soak up the blood and hopefully dry it up a bit.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Also, I think it is going to be a bit of a mess once the bleeding does subside... any ideas to make it heal up quickly with minimal damage?

Oh I'm so silly at times! Rolling Eyes

That sounds really dangerous actually. How about Neosporin to help it heal and keep away infection. Maybe CPs when it is no longer open.

See a doctor. They can remove any fragments to hopefully reduce scarring. Normal skin wouldn't bleed continuously, so you must not have picked it all out (don't try again!)

Oh goodness... I had hoped I wouldn't have to see a doctor. They will be very mad at me for doing it!

They might give you a bit if a lecture, but you will probably feel better if they remove it properly and can feel confident that everything is ok...I know I would! Smile

Have just called my doctor and have been told that the earliest I can see anyone is NEXT tuesday! Won't the skin be partially healed by then?

I don't know what to do!

No, not that I'm aware of. We have the Casualty departments of hospitals, but I would be hounded out of there for wasting people's time if I chose that option (not something I would even consider as this is very minor really - I'm more annoyed that I thought I should try such a silly stunt myself!)

ETA: mole/cut has stopped bleeding now.

As long as you can afford it (I know health care there is very different), I would still take the appointment next Tuesday. Just be prepared for the lecture Rolling Eyes

Did it stop bleeding yet?

Thanks Faith and Nickle,

Yes it has stopped bleeding now.

I don't think I would have to pay for the mole to be removed, but I'm guessing that by next Tuesday it will look almost back to 'normal' and as it doesn't cause any problems (apart from me not liking it - it is failry small and skin coloured), I doubt they would do anything about it - apart from tell me off (which I deserve!)

I agree. Keep the appointment, and have it removed properly, or at least looked at on Tuesday. I'm glad it stopped bleeding.

Thanks to you all for your replies. I am very grateful.

Next time I will post BEFORE I do something stupid and your wise words will hopefully prevent me from doing something like this again!

I hate it when I do something dumb (like squeeze a zit and make it look WAY worse) but don't beat yourself up over it.

Now that I think about it, didn't that really HURT?

I kind of went into a bit of daze and just kept on attacking it! I knew that I was doing something stupid and that it woukd be a mess afterwards, but I couldn't stop. When I didn't get anywhere with my fingers, I used some tweezers and a needle... I am so stupid!

It is so good to hear that I'm not alone in this... I thought it was just me!!!

You'd think I'd learn from all the times I've made a mess, especially now as I seem to scar so much easier than I used to do (it must be old age Laughing ), but still I find myself in front of the mirror causing havoc!

Moles bleed easily....years ago I couldn't shave without paying special attention to a certain area. I had it removed. Problem solved.

Must be just the camera, because your mole looks like a pimple. Put some anti bac ointment on it and leave it alone. See the dr, he'll advise you.

It looks like a pimple because I have removed the top layer of skin over it and it is now just a great big messy raised blob!

I have put some savlon on it and am trying not to fiddle.

Thank you for your reply.
