So, which fruit/veg wins? PSF Pumpkin or JB Apple? |

I've tried both, and found both wrought with the Curse of Diminishing Effect- great results at first, not so great with prolonged use. IMO, PSF is cheaper, JB gives a better brightening effect, PSF gives a better smoothening effect, both made pores appear smaller. From a price point of view, i choose PSF. |

I bought both and give a big thumbs up to the Pumpkin! The JB Apple (regular, mind you) did absolutely nothing for me. I couldn't even feel it but then I guess my skin is resistent - I layer 5% BHA/Mandelic Acid every single day and do 5% BHA followed by Exfol-A each night.
I find that the pumpkin, when rinsed, did wonderfully at removing dead skin but didn't do much to brighten; it was not until I started using a washcloth, that things became brighter. It's a bit more tedious but only by a smidgeon and my skin looks nice and bright afterward.
It's one my holy grails and I use it about 2x/week. Still gotta take the JB Apple back to Sephora but I hate the drive to the mall. Ugh. |

Thanks for answering scalawaggirl and dollbird. I'll add the pumpkin to my next EDS order. Seems to be the season, for it! scalawaggirl, tell me more about the washcloth. So, you use it to scrub after the pumpkin or you rub the pumpkin in? How long do you leave it on for? Does it sting? |

Well, I have quite resistent skin so wouldn't recommend this to you, necessarily, but I leave it on about 30-40 minutes to let it "ruminate". In fact, I will probably do one this afternoon before a Baby Quasar session! The directions say 5 minutes, I think, so start off with that and work your way up.
As for the washcloth, I thoroughly soak and wring it out then place on my face and start to wipe away gently (very important) - there is no scrubbing involved. What I find is that the mask is a bit silky so I have to frequently rinse the cloth in order to have a clean surface to work with. I am not using this to work the pumpkin in, either. It is only to remove it. I noticed the first time I did this (was just rinsing prior), that my skin was a lovely and bright! So, that's how I do it now! |

I guess this puts me in the minority, but I much prefer the JB Apple peel. It's not that I didn't like the pumpkin peel--- I did. But I prefer the Apple peel because it seems to have a better effect both on active acne and on active scars. Also, the PSF peel seems to grow mold (so keep it in the fridge, ladies!), and the spices/oils in it seem to irritate my sensitive skin more. On the other hand, my skin has never been irritated by the Apple peel. |
