Hi,

I have a lot of blocked pores on my cheeks and forehead but no acne, is anyone else in this predicament? If so what products have you used which have made a considerable difference to your blocked pores?

I have brought the Jan Marini Bio Facial Cleanser but this is just for the general condition of my skin, I am considering trying out to remove blocked pores:

- Jan Marini BioClear Lotion
- Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream

Anyone recommend the above products? And what about masks?

Thanks

Hello Willisti

I often get blocked pores, just sort of an enlarged darkish look to them, if I don't exfoliate or use a clay mask on my skin for a while.

I use my own exfoliation mixture similar to Epidermx, but not as greasy. I use it twice a week.

I also love Dr H's clay cleansing mask, and if I am having very clogged pores, I pack a heavier mask on my face and keep it moistened for about 20 mins. It may be very drying if it is the first time using it, especially if you let it dry out completely.

If you are willing to spend a couple of minutes using the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream twice a day and with the proper technique, then I highly recommend this one. It's been wonderful for clearing out my pores and many people have reported the same results.

I think that the JI Bioglycolic Bioclear can also help (I have this as well) but, like I said to you earlier (I think, if I recall correctly), you should be using a mask regularly as well. I've heard good things about the Dr Hauschka mud mask that Miranets mentioned although I have not tried that one myself yet.

Hi,

I have a similar problem; however, I'm breaking out now since I moved to a different climate. Seems my blocked pores are now protesting. Lucky me. Smile
Anywho, have you considered a chemical peel? I had blocked pores on my chin and cheeks that never seemed to improve not matter what products I used. I didn't break out, but they didn't improve either. When 6-12 inches from a mirror, I could see the dark spots. (Aren't you glad that is not apart of anyone's culture?...."Hello. My you have large pores. My names Deanne. How do you do?'). We'd all be on Oprah crying. Bahahaha
<SIGH>. I'm a tangent girl. Sorry.
As I was saying. A mild peel really helps with the unclogging and if you can handle a TCA peel (and the week of fugliness) that IS THE BEST!!! I wanted to cry the first time because your skin gets all the nastiness out. You never really know how much stuff you can't see under your skin until it all breaks out at once, but when you peel the results are breath-taking. So much of the clogged pores I had were gone. And no scars. I don't know about the products you listed (I'm new here and hope to try some of these ladies suggestions), but to get a long lasting and much faster result ask your derm about a TCA peel. The more mild ones work too, but you may need 8-12 before you see strong results.
I hope this helps. Take care

When using the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream try leaving it on for about 5 mins like you would a mask, it draws anything out of the pores.

Another vote for the Dr H cleansing cream from me too! Really good - I also leave it on for a few minutes after using it as they instruct, once or twice a week.
The Epidermx is also brilliant and the PSF O2 serum helps keep those nice squeaky clean pores clear.
I also found that when I switched to mineral make up my pores were LOTS clearer - ironic that the products (even those claiming to be non-comedogenic/pore blocking) I was using to cover the pores and odd blemish actually made the problem worse!!!

I have one query. I already have the Jan Marini Bioglycolic facial cleanser which is basically just my daily facewash it doesn’t seem to improve my pores but my general skin complexion does look better, can I still use this with the Dr H cleansing cream, applying it after I have used the Jan Marini cleanser or should I just use the one product in this case?

Well I've used it along side MD Forte Level 2 Glycolic cleanser (which removed make up etc)and it was fine - suppose it depends on your skin type. Why not try using one in the morning (Dr H) and the bioglycolic at night then see how you go?

I can't see that there would be anything in the Dr H CC to interact with the JM cleanser but would recommend a test patch behind you ear of both products to check before you use both. The main concern would be irritation due to over exfoliation but the Dr H CC is very gentle - It depends on your skin and how sensitive it is, I would do a test patch then if thats ok, try using them on the same day and see how you go.

I must chime in with a vote for Dr. Hauschka CC! It not only takes the gunk out of my pores, it gives me a healthy glow too.

Carekate and Faith turned me on to the aspirin mask (thanks ladies!) and last week I stumbled upon a great combo - aspirin mask first, then DH CC. Aspirin is salicylic acid, which "unglues" the skin on top of a blocked pore. Once there is a way through for the congestion to come out the DH CC gently coaxes the impurities out.

Decleor Essential Balm is also good for congestion.

Hey! I like that combination too. I recently had a brain spasm about the aspirin mask too - it's always so grainy the way I've ground it up. The other day it finally occurred to me to grind the aspirin in the little coffee bean grinder I bought to grind up my almonds for my homemade Dr. H., and voila! It made my aspirin so fine, a powder really, and it mixed wonderfully with the honey I use to hold it together.

Hi Mogwai Smile I did not enjoy the gritty texture of the first aspirin mask I made either. I had first dissolved the tablets in a little water then added aloe vera gel and a bit of honey. When I saw that aloe gel by itelf was capable of dissolving the tablets I mushed the mixture up and the result was a thicker, smoother texture. Unfortunately the honey made me itch so I omit that now. When the time comes to remove the mask I use more aloe gel instead of water and it feels so much gentler on my skin.

Hi,

I use Murad purifying mask, its great helps to keep the pore clean. I have tried Dr H cleansing cream, its something like a scrub, helps to exfoliate the skin.
