I recieved about 6 of these through a friend from the US and I had read they were similar in formula to the MAC Eyeshadows, even though you don't believe wholey what you read until you have tried the product for yourself.
I can't believe what a snap these shadows are at only $3 each!!! After I had applied my Urban Decay Primer Potion I decided to try these out, my 4 firm favourites are Java Bean (chocolate Brown), Sheer Sand (Shimmery Beige), Antique Gold (Dity shimmery gold) and Illusion (Light pinky mauve with gold shimmers).
The pick up so easily on the brush and are easy to blend and the colour can be as sheer or as intense as you choose.
I love using the Java Bean as an eyeliner and the Sheer Sand looks good as a highlighter or on the lid for a very natural look.
So for $3 it is well worth having a few of these, if like me you don't wear eye shadow every day then for the price it doesn't matter if you only use it a handful of times.
Just as good as MAC, if you removed the brands, I would not be able to tell the difference!! |

I will have to try these. I LOVE the Milani lip glosses. And they are so affordable.
Thanks for the review.

I love these eyeshadows.. Warning tho, they are marketed to women of color.. I've found on some you have to use a light hand in applying some of them.. And not all of them are a good comparison to MAC, just FYI... I have so many, some I like, some I don't.. I did get a couple quads at K Mart that are very nice... Walgreens carrys the line, but you may have trouble finding them... I have to travel to another part of town... I wish Walgreens would get the message that this product is loved by all who discouver them!
And if you have a chance you MUST get the Luminous blush.. This is just beautiful! It gives such a glow... |

I find that strange that this range is marketed at as you say 'women of colour' as I am very pale skinned and the eyeshaow colours are really no more different than other eye shadows on the market.......it's when they are applied they come into their own.
Oh yes I too like the Luminous blush, I agree you hardly need much of this, I use a very light hand for the blusher. |

(Hm...If I recall correctly, there are Caucasian models pictured in some of the Milani displays. I wonder if the line really is marketed towards "women of color" or whether we assume this because the models that tend to be shown in the displays include black, latin, Asian, etc. women. Just a thought...)
Anyway, depending on the color, I've found that these shadows are just as good as MAC or some other "high end" shadows I've tried. But just as with MAC, some of the colors/finishes are better than the rest. The pigmentation is really excellent compared to other drugstore brands like Cover Girl, L'Oreal, Maybelline, etc. |

It seems I have possibly offended, and that was not my intention at all! Perhaps using the term 'women of color' was a bad choice of words, forgive me... Here is a blurb from the Milani web site...
'Milani colors and deluxe formulations are created specifically for multi-cultural skin tones'
No, this doesn't mean that those of us that are pale and light can't wear them obviously! But a lot of the colors are more intense and that's why I said you might want to use a light hand, should you try them... |

Im Kiki I don't think you have offended anyone
It is so hard sometimes wording things correctly and trying to be PC at the same time, I could not think off the top of my head another wording so I copied yours |

I'm with you on this. I have bought a few Milani eye shadows when I was in the states and I have found that some are good and some are not. Specifically, I actually found a difference in texture - I have one shade (I'll have to see what it is when I get home, if I haven't chucked it yet) that is actually quite hard and isn't easily picked up by the brush.
Btw, I wasn't actually meaning to buy any of these. The Luminous blush that you mentioned was actually what I was after but this is the one thing that this store didn't have. In fact, I couldn't find it anywhere else either so I just came home with the shadows....

Looks like we were on the exact same page because I went out to buy this blush too yesterday. I was able to find it though and when I first saw it I thought it would be too light, even though I'm very fair. However, it came out very nice. It's sort of a light peachy pink and I think it would look good on most complexions. I'm going to have to wear it for a few days to really get a feel for it, but so far I really do like the color. It's a great highlighter that appears pretty natural on me.
By the way Mabsy, I think our skin tone/color is pretty similar, at least from your discussions and the pic you posted of your eyes. And my eyes are also both green (in the middle) and brown (on the outside), but most people never even notice the green part since it's dark green. I like to point it out on occassion though because I think it's unusual. |

Some Walgreens carry Milani. I've also seen it at a few CVS. |

I have all the milani eye shadow colors and blush colors mentioned above. I must say however that I do notice a difference with the MAC eye shadows that I have - they are finer milled and have better pigmentation in my opinion. As for the luminous blush, it is very similar to the NARS orgasm blush. |

FYI, not every Walgreens carry the line... In fact in one state {I can't recall which now} tehre is only one store in the entire state that carries it...LOL I have to travel clear across town to the one and only Wlagreens in the Denver metro area that carries it...
You can order it online at Walgreens.com or go to HouseofGable.com.. They carry the line.. |

I wonder if that's in California... I searched through so many places and couldn't find it Mind you, I didn't have a car so only had access to the stores around the city centre. But didn't find anything in the Fashion Valley mall either |

Oops--I didn't mean to imply that I'm Kiki or anyone else was being insensitive. My comment was more in the "Why is that so? sort of vein. Anyway, I think the DG-brands-marketed-towards-women-of-color thing works out very well for those of us on a budget. You generally will get deeper, more vibrant colors and better pigmentation--except for occasional texture differences, it's like getting high end stuff for bargain-basement prices You all should try checking out Milani's other stuff, like the aforementioned blushes and the lipsticks (particularly the Sheer Color line). The loose eyeshadows are especially nice if you like a bit of sparkle
FYI: Some Walgreens, CVS, Target and Eckerds all carry this line. |

Nijey, I was just coming to post a few more stores that carry the line, but you beat me! I'll add 2 more to you list, some Longs and Meijer stores..
Oh and I just remembered, my ULTAS carry Milani, altho the selection is more limited than the Walgreens.. They don't carry the blushes at all..
Mabsy, it's not CA that only has the one Walgreens that sells it, I'm sure of that.. I can't find the post on another baord I vist with the info tho..
I'd suggest, before anyone goes out looking to call stores first.. None of the Targets here carry it, like in some places.. I have found it at one K Mart here.. But it's the only K Mart that's fairly close... I don't go to KM, it was a fluke I was in there.. LOL
I also have a few of the lip glosses and they are nice.. I'm not a big LG wearer, but like to have them around if I decide to use them.. |
