Hi Everyone,

First off, I love this forum and just discovered it a week ago. I am 29 and a new mother. I have combination skin and before having my daughter I always had occasional breakouts. I never really spent much money on skin care. My skin was pretty nice until I hit the early twenties. I think a huge factor contributing to my skin problems is the lack of sleep. Also, I only use Clearisil face wash and Cetaphil sunblock/moisturizer. Since I'm a stay at home mom, I don't normally wear makeup at home. When I go out, I do wear some foundation, eyeliner and lipstick.

Since I'm a year from being 30, I know that I should start investing in skincare. My hubby is the only one working so finances are tight. So, I can only afford the MUST HAVE items. Can you guys please recommend a bare bones skin care regimen for me? By the way, I'm Asian. I'm not adverse to hearing about eye creams too as I think I am starting to get wrinkles.

Thanks in advance!!

hi Anna Smile

Congrats on your new baby, and welcome to the forum! I think you should check oy the DIY thread. In there, you will find lots of recipes to make your own products and treatments. If I were you, I would start with a Vit C serum, the ACV toner, and the aspirin mask...maybe look into the Cleansing Cream as well. It is not so much a cleanser, but a gentle exfoliant. All of these things will cost you pennies to make, and are really great for your skin. As for your cleanser, could you post the ingredients? You might be better off with something more gentle for cleansing (like Cetaphil), and just a spot treatment for any areas of concern. For eye cream, you could look at the Babor Sensational Eyes Eye Cream. I picked this up after Mabsy's recommendation and because it is so affordable; it is a really great eye cream. Smile

So, if you could make all of these things, except the eye cream which you will have to buy, your routine could be...

AM
Rinse with water, unless oily, then Cleanser
Cleansing Cream
ACV Toner
Vit C
Eye cream
Sunblock

PM
Cleanser
Cleansing Cream
ACV Toner
Eye Cream
Moisturizer*

Aspirin mask 2-3 times per week

*If I were you, I would get some sort of anti-aging cream for night. A 10% glycolic cream, for example. Smile

Hi Faith,

Thank you very much for the recommendation. I am going to buy the ingredients to make these products soon. By the way, where did u find the eye cream? Also, I have Cetaphil face wash at home, I think I will switch from Clearisil to Cetaphil.

I am having a major breakout right now and feel totally ugly. Your suggestion has made me feel a lot more hopeful.

Take care,
Anna

I get most of my stuff from EDS Smile Here is the eye cream...

For total anti-aging products, this is popular...

If you do a search on this board, you should find lots of positive reviews about ADCE and the prep. If you didn't want to go that route, you could use any number of products. I like to use AHAs. I use this...

It does work as an anti-aging product, but also helps to exfoliate and add moisture. If your skin is not dry, they have it in a lotion or serum form. HTH Smile

As for the breakout, try the aspirin mask ASAP! Smile I find that can help stop it in its tracks. And, do you gave a spot treatment??
