Like I've told you before, I'm always out to find bargains, and get more for my money. I think that we should all share our success stories with bargain finds for products.
Some of my new favorite beauty bargain products: Suave Pro-Vitamin B-5 Shampoo & Conditioner, N.Y.C. Cosmetics loose Transluscent powder ($2.99 at Shoppers Drugmart in Canada!),and Spectro Gel Facial Cleanser. |

What's in the loose powder? I just got mineral powder/foundation from Youngblood but I worry that it has been causing tiny blackheads on my forehead |

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to this question, because the cardboard packaging went into my recycling bin! `Next time you're in Shoppers or London Drugs, the ingredients are listed on the back of the packaging.
I was thrilled to find a cheap buy like this, as I had run out of my loose powder last weekend, and didn't want to venture downtown to The Bay. I had been using M.A.C powder, but my last jar had lasted me nearly two years. (true) I never go into M.A.C or to their counters anymore. It's become too expensive, and I try to avoid anything owned by Lauder. (personal reasons) |

Ahh, now you're talking my language.
Understand that expensive foundations are a given in that you get what you pay for...more pigment.
BUT, the extras can be fun and cheap!
My ALL TIME favorite is JANE. I've been in love with Deepline eyeliner for about 5 years though its getting harder and harder to find. Deepline is a rich blue/purple that is fantastic and comes in a 'no sharpener' needed tube. This color is so pretty and less harsh than brown or black and yet looks natural.
(I had bought a Christmas makeup kit from Macys years ago with that color eye pencil and used it all up with love, then when I went back to buy the full size, found out that color was just in the kit! (dumb?)) So when I found the same color in JANE's line; heaven! And its about $3.50!!! So I buy several when I can find them.
Last time found some at RiteAid; West coast drug store chain. Good luck; Vanessa
Oh, and my other cheap favorite: Maybelline's Discovery! After trying too many expensive mascaras (usually just to get the 'free' gift bag) I've never found one that doesn't clump or smear with my oily skin. Lash Discovery in waterproof is AMAZING. Its tiny wand finds all those hard to reach little lashes and STAYS PUT. I must admit it doesn't 'thicken' just looks very natural, so sometimes for night duty, I'll use one of my old clumpy mascaras to thicken the lashes, then use the Discovery wand to unclump.. or brush out the lashes for a more bold look.
And last but not least, sort of cheap product is CoverGirl's lip tints.. one of those long lasting, paint in one end and gloss in the other; under ten dollars at Walmart and they do last on me for at least half the day which is an amazing feat for me. The only problem is not being able to try on the colors; it took me three trys to find the right color for me...
Hope someone finds these bargains as much fun as me!

hivanessa28 - I have read many good reviews about JANE products - particularly the eye shadows and blushes too I think. This brand is not available in Australia so when I was in San Diego a few months back I was on a mission to find Jane stuff. I went to so many different drugstores - did not find a single one that carried it! |

Walmart still carries Jane. Their blushes are terrific! Very nicely milled, pretty colors, stay all day?!!! What's THAT about? They're like $3 or something like that.
Great value and a very nice product.

Oh hivanessa! You're a girl after my own heart! I have several of the Jane cosemtics as well, powdered eye shadows such as Rock Star which is a nice med taupe brown and Sungloss, a pale pink which when on is also a great neutral and blush which I just love. This is a great product line and especially so because I found out the other day that Estee Lauder owns it!!
I also love the Lash Discovery but I haven't used the CG Lip Tints yet but I've found a new discovery by CG. Lipslicks! These are huge tubes, several shades and only $4.95 here in Canada. Love it all! |

My favorite bargain buy is Jane Fan Club clear mascara. I use this as a fix, over my mascara, if I have clumps, or my eyelashes are not behaving. This clear gel smooths, and separates my lashes. I have blonde lashes and brows, and apply mascara daily before work.(I do give them a break on weekends.) If my lashes need refreshing, before a client meeting, or for an after-work night out, I'll swipe some on, let set for a minute, and apply a fresh coat of mascara. It allows me to create a natural look, with just one coat of mascara, or apply more coats for a more dramatic evening look, without that dry, clumping that always seems to happen with me. Jane Fan club clear is always in my makeup bag, and it sell for about $3.00 in the states. |

Mabsy! I forgot to mention about Jane's eyeliner; while I love and adore Deepline, I read a review that mentioned that sometimes the product becomes to dry/hard to use. I found that to be true if its sat on the shelf too long, or the top has been left off too long. SIMPLE solution: just roll the tip up about 1/8 inch and break off and throw away and the rest of the eyeliner is soft and easy to apply.
My Walmart no longer carries Jane; but my RiteAid does and so does Walgreens.
Brushes: I found Target's line of brushes to be a bit better quality than Jane's however; Target's has a top line kind of brush that easily compares to dept store brushes! But my all time favorite is Lauren Hutton's brush kit; she uses natural hairs and I've had mine for years, while a bit expensive, they wash well and are still great; and they come in a nice pouch pack.
I continue to be a makeup junkie and hope to read more favorite and cheap products! Thanks to all! Vanessa |

I didn't manage to get myself to a Walmart (no car in SD ) but I did check out Target (thanks to Sassyred ) and also RiteAid and pretty much every other drugstore I could find. Nada! The Jane mascara was on my list as well! |

my new favorites are 'milani' products.
for the longest time i ignored this drugstore line, but then read reviews on mua and decided to try.
their 'luminous' blush is so much better than nars 'orgasm' and for only $3.
as if that was not enough, their eye shadows are as good, if not better than mac & stila.
some of the lipsticks and glosses are very good quality too.
another 'must have' product for me - lumene eye shadow base. though it is not that cheap - $10, it makes shadows stay all day. wow! |

Where is the Jane Fan Club clear mascara sold??
I used to use a clear mascara which is no longer sold here and haven't found a good substitute. |

I find Jane Fan Club mascara at Walmart, where Jane products are sold. I was looking for a cheap, clear mascara, and Jane was the only line that I found it in. I do think that Cover Girl carries a clear now. That's the only Jane product I've ever tried, and I've re-purchased it several times. |

Indeed, which is why I was looking for it all over San Diego. No luck though. Mind you, the lovely Carrie found some and will be sending me some shortly |

I had a lovely MUA member purchase me some Milani products, the Luminous blush is gorgeous! It looks shockingly orange (albeit light) in the compact but perfect on my face. Very buildable and just the right colour over my JI Warm Silk. She also sent two eyeshadows which I also love. Anyone with access to this stuff has to try it, all three items cost me $10 US!!!
My fav. bargain item that I can get just about anywhere has to be Cetaphil Creamy Cleanser. It's about $12 Canadian for 400 mls, a real deal and it agrees with my finicky skin.
I don't remember if this thread is about drug store favs or just bargains so I will also add that I've just discovered Avon Glimmersticks and love them!! I have one eyeliner and it goes on so smoothly and lasts all day!!! Also, the Glazewear lipgloss is good, the colours are hard to decifer in the catalogue and online but once you find a shade that works, the texture is really nice, light and not sticky but moisturizing. I dont' think I've mentioned this before but I used to sell Mary Kay cosmetics but stopped because I couldn't use the skincare at all so it wasn't worth it for me as the only thing I really liked was one mascara! Avon eyeliners and lippies are way better than Mary Kay and MK is very expensive for what you get.
Also, a Canadian ds brand I really like for brushes is Quo, the makeup is supposed to be good too but I haven't tried it yet. |

I hear the blush is beautiful! This was on my list of things to get while in SD as well but once I finally managed to find one drugstore that carried Milani they had everything BUT the blush. I did get some eyeshadows though. One is lovely the other is a bit average - it's interesting how the quality varies between them actually. |

As a blush lover you've got to try this stuff, Mabsy! If I had access I would send you one! Which eyeshadows did you get? Mine are Classic Beige and Taup-E-Ary sp? The beige is a light creamy colour with some frost but not too much and taupe is medium coloured without frost but not completely matt. |

Me again! I love this thread because so much of what I use is inexpensive. If I find something I love but can't afford or just plain don't want to spend a whole lot of $, I search for a replacement that's less expensive.
I'm all into aloe these days and picked up Natural Earth Vit A Soothe Vitamin A and Organic Aloe Soothing Body Gel. It has no scent what so ever and it was $6 CAD plus tax for 680 mls! It's fine as a body gel but what I really use it for is my scalp and hair! While my hair is still slightly damp, I work it into my roots where I want extra volume or if it's particularily irritated in a certain spot, I have psoriasis. I've been looking for a scalp moisturizer for so long and this seems to fit the bill perfectly. Sometimes I use a palmful, really work it into my scalp and leave it for a couple hours. Then I wash it out and condition. Many rich hair treatments are too greasy for daytime use and strongly fragranced, this is not at all. My hair is thick, coarse, shoulder length and straight for reference.
Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Retinyl, Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Tetrasodium EDTA |

AGAIN, I will sing the praises of Canadian skin cleanser Spectro Gel!! It has really, really improved my skin - which was spotty for over a month, due to "life".
My skin is combo, but if the product is too harsh, my skin becomes irritated, dry, and uncomfortable. Not with the Spectro Gel! Nope.
In fact, you're all gonna die when I make a confession: I actually bought the Shoppers Drugmart Life-brand, generic version of Spectro Gel. Their version is called DermalJel. 500 ml cost me $10.99 CDC. Spectro Gel: 250ml $6.99, 500ml $13.99. I am never going back! I have found my cleanser, and it's perfect for me!
I will suggest the Spectro skincare line to Magda, as I realize that it is only available in Canada. http://www.spectroskincare.com/index_en.shtml
Note: I recommended Forum member "I Love My Skin Now" try this cleanser, and she has had the same positive results as I have! |

Spectro Jel cleansers have way too much alcohol in them for me to use unfortunately. It is even cheaper than Cetaphil, I was so hoping it work out. |

Not to worry - I'll get my hands on it one day... The two eyeshadows I got are Antique Gold (lovely!) and also Deep Desire. |
