Well, this is somewhat off topic but I'm loving this book so I thought I'd mention it.

I could not find this book in the shops in Brisbane so I bought it blind on the net based on some great reviews of it. It was recommended to me as a great step-by-step makeup book. The book is great! Kevyn Aucoin (R.I.P.) was a fabulous makeup artist (and what a hunk!) and the book has many shots of stars with his makeovers as well as step-by-step instructions on how the makeovers were done. It also has before and after shots of people together with instructions for the different looks (with diagrams). It's got some great application tips and methods but also goes to the more tricky things (like how to COMPLETELY cover your eyebrows and draw yourself new ones in a different shape - I'll never try that but it was interesting to see how it's done).

If you like playing with your makeup (like me Smile) then you might like to sneak a peek at this book next time you're in the bookshop.

I'm really tempted to buy his "Face Forward" book as well. I think in this one he takes a bunch of famous people and makes them look like other famous people. The transformations are apparently amazing. I haven't actually seen this book though, I might pop into a bookshop in the city (it's so hard to find Aucoin books in Brisbane Mad ) and check it out.

Mabsy.

Kevyn Aucoin was the greatest makeup artist. I have "Making Faces" too and enjoy reading it over and over again. It was a birthday gift from my favorite cousin and it's the only "beauty book" I love to keep on my bookshelves. I also love to try the ptds in his make-up line, too, but I have no idea where to get them.

Mabsy, I order all my books and music CDs from amazon.ca, they have great selections at super prices and no delivery charge if your order is about $39.00 CAD. I just don't know if they deliver to Brisbane.Surprised

Leila,

I bought mine off amazon.com, which turns out cheaper and faster for me than amazon.ca. Unfortunately, not living in the US or Canada, I don't get the free shipping Sad

My main problem is that when I buy books like that I like to flip through it first and make sure that I will like it. It's hard to do since I can't find them here. I'm very happy with the "Making Faces" book but I will check out the "Face Forward" one in person before I buy it to see if it's much different to the one I already have (in terms of techniques and tips).

I have read the book "Face Forward" but in terms of the make up tips and techniques, this is not the one that really delivery a lot of information, quite the different from the "Making Faces", 'FAce Forwards" has more photos of the celebrities from different ethnic backgrounds, it's not talking about the basic techniques, but how to make the looks of those celebrities in the book.
The book is very colorful with lots of pictures if you are looking for the color reference and the mix and match thing !
