I get clogged pores on my nose and I'm sick of them. I remember using those pore cleansing strips like Biore when I was a teenager. I remember getting totally grossed out if I looked at them, though!!!
What is everybody's opinion on these things? |

Hi Chimera,
I don't think that they are good for your skin - maybe look into a BHA product. I don't get the problem you've described so maybe someone who does will have more to add.

I think someone on here once described those pore strips as basically "glorified duct tape"!! I have a crop of blackheads on my nose, too -- have had them since the time I hit puberty and that was nearly 25 years ago! What I've found that really helped was regularly applying an aspirin mask -- somehow the salicyic acid (that's basically what the active ingredient in aspirin is!) has softened and loosened the blackheads so much that they more or less come out on their own, and now my little nose-crop is all but gone. Of course I'm sure there's some magical products out there that will do the same thing, but a bottle of generic (uncoated) aspirin only costs about $.99US at the drugstore so it's less of an investment, ya know?! All you do is finely crush about five aspirin and mix in a little water to form a paste (personally, I mix my crushed aspirin with honey, but that's just my preference) and massage it onto your freshly washed face. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then add a little water to your fingers and massage the paste into your skin an a circular patten then rinse your face thoroughly. If your skin feels a bit dry afterward, just slap on your regular moisturizer right away. Do this a couple times a week for a couple weeks and your blackheads will soon be a thing of the past.
Good luck,
Carrie |

Thanks everybody for your great advice! Carekate, I will be trying the aspirin mask as soon as I get my lazy self to the store to buy some! |

chimera,
You're not alone, I have the same skin problem. I've also tried numerous nose strips before. I've been using Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Scrub, doesn't seem to help at all.
Carekate's asprin mask sounds pretty good. I will give it a try too.
Let me know how it works on you.
I'll update mine too. |

I remember something that it was suggested they make them bigger since the gunk is not softened before extraction- don't take that as fact, just something I heard/read. |

God blackheads p.........me off, scuse the language but I've been trying for years to get rid of the damn things! My skin would be so nice without them as i dont get pimples.I use the strips now and again yeh they get them out but they dont solve the problem, just a temporary fix.
Dr H didnt work for me and i have tried paulas choice 2% Beta hydroxy liquid which made my skin worse. i Know theres meant to be an initial purging with these things but i find after 2 weeks and my skin still getting worse i cant stand it anymore and stop.Sorry for rambling on i wasnt much help. Let us know if you find something thats good. |

The Oil Cleansing Method and Carrie's Aspirin Mask [and possibly Carrie's Apple Cider Vinegar toner] have made blackheads on my nose and cheekbone area a thing of the past ... and I had been plagued with these things for over 30 years! Nothing commercial that I tried ever worked for long.
I wouldn't believe it had I not experienced it myself.
Given that both the Oil Cleansing Method and the Aspirin Mask are very inexpensive, they are certainly worth a try!

I use the Biore nose strips every once in awhile. They do work for me, but, as stated above, it is temporary. I hate blackheads! |
