I have not had much luck with AHAs and over the years I've tried and given up on using them many times. They give me red blotches and painful bumps almost immediately or overnight. I'm willing to give glycolics a go again because I think that may help my skin cope with the heavier/oilier European sunscreens. I'm starting with the cleansers as a way to acclimate my skin - since cleansers stay on the face for only a brief period of time I thought its the safest way to go. The cleanser for sensitive types did not irritate me and that was encouraging. I then tried the regular cleanser which I heard is more effective due to the more acidic pH. It stung a bit but did not give me red blotches. However, the next morning I had 3 painful bumps.
Should I keep going anyway? Is this just a purging period, and if so, how long will is it likely to last?
Also, any recs on products I can use after MDF to soothe my skin and avert the bumps?
