I read a bit about Avalon organics on EDS in the past so when I finally spied this at a health food shop I decided that I had to try something. I thought that I had read something good about this deodorant here but looking through the posts now I think I mistook it for Tom's of Maine
Ok, so how is this deodorant? Well, in all honesty, not too good On the plus side, it's all natural, not tested on animals, and it's paraben free (not that I care for that much but I know that some here do). It also smells nice and feels ever so slightly tingly for a few minutes after you apply it. However, and this is a *BIG* however, I hate how long it takes for this to dry! It really takes at least 5 minutes of your armpits slip-sliding around before this starts to feel "normal". Also, as with other deodorants (rather than antiperspirants), this does not stop you from sweating. I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and there have been good days (the colder days ) and there have been bad days (the warmer days ). A few days ago we had a day that started out a bit cold, relatively anyway , so I wore a light jumper. It then got to about 28 degrees (C) and after a pretty busy day at work I smelt sweaty.
On the packaging front, this comes in a 85mL plastic roll on bottle. Pretty standard but I do have the occasional problem with it dripping one drop when I tilt it to apply it.
So, overall, if you don't sweat much and it's not hot outside then I think this is a very good natural choice over the aluminium deos. If it's summer or you sweat a fair bit then this simply does NOT do the job. |

I don't think it works that well at all and I found it to stain my tops and very hard to wash off. |

Yes - this won't work when you need it most; i.e. when it's hot and you're all sweaty. I find that on cooler days this is just fine (I don't sweat much). |

I can back this up, Mabsy... we get this imported direct from the USA (they wont allow it for sale here in Japan because it has no "official" preservatives)...
I got this for hubby and it was a bit "free flowing" for his liking and not quite up to the mid summer challenge. He prefers his tea tree deodorant we get in Australia.
When I get a chance I will do reviews on the Avalon shampoos we use (they are much better) and also one of their face masks I bought. |
