I know we are to avoid religion, but I really need some help and since I am not asking for any response on the board, I hope it will be OK to ask.

If there are any members out there of the Islamic faith, I could certainly use your help right about now!

I work in a very international company and all of our "clients" are located outside Japan. My problem is in sending year-end greetings.

Although instructed to send "Christmas cards" by the president, I never send cards with any Christmas imagery or wording to our non-Japanese clients (mostly Christian and Muslim, but I imagine also several other religions as well). I usually choose Unicef blank cards with various dove designs.

This year, as the inside message I was planning to put: "Seasons Greetings from XXX. May you have a happy and prosperous 2006"

I know it is "haram" (unlawful) for Muslims to participate in celebrations of other religions, but I want someone to confirm if this phrase would be at all offensive or if it would be haram for the person to accept such a greeting. I always figured that "Seasons Greetings" could cover any number of year-end events, but after Ramadan I dont think the Islamic calender has any more celebrations. Also, the Islamic New Year is not till March on our calendar. ALSO I am worried about use of the word "prosperous"... should I best say "happy and healthy 2006"??

Unicef do a multi-language "seasons greetings" card and it has some greeting in Arabic but I cannot read Arabic so I dont know what it says (the greeting in Japanese translates as Happy New Year) so I thought that maybe there is some equivalent greeting in Arabic too. I really want to be respectful in my greeting and not offend anyone.

Can someone help me out? PLEASE this is stressing me so much I can just FEEL the wrinkles coming on!

Thanks!

PS. "Seasons Greetings" is a suitable phrasing to send to those of Jewish faith too, no?
