During a recent trip to Nordstroms, I came across the loveliest SA who loaded me down with samples of the new Guerlain Super Aqua line. I have the Midnight Secret and Star, so, I decided to give a try at their newest "day to day" offering.
I have combo/oily skin that breaks out very easily and also is starting to show the signs of ageing (most notably, nose to lip folds.) I decided to use the SA Serum and Day creme on my face and the Night under my eyes and neck.
Verdict? Nice, but, I don't think they are worth the money. The Serum is light (very fragranced) but, for all the "super aqua" connotations of a moist face, mine was not. I actually felt pretty matte and as though I needed a desperate spray of Evian water whenever I've worn it.
Maybe I've gotten used to the feel of nothing but a pat of Decleor Ylang-Ylang oil. Four little drops give me a moist, comfortable face that feels plump and looks youthful. I didn't get any of those from the Guerlain... and the asking price would be double that of the Decleor.
So, overall, a decent product, I think the Serum would be great for someone with extremely oily skin with lots of cash to toss around for a basic moisturizer. Ironically, the Day Creme and Night cremes came across to me as the same, just with different levels of thickness. Basic, inoffensive, however, lacking in any real results or impressive qualities. |

I used to sell Guerlain products.
I can say, as someone who has used most of their range, Guerlain should stick to fragrances and makeup.
There is a bizarre, "old woman" quality to their products and all are way too fragranced.
Still, fragranced (and expensive) or not, if a product works, then I would continue using it. None of their skincare offerings were bad (in terms of reaction), but none that I tried seemed to do anything.
IIRC, I used
Aquaserum (younger skin)
Super Aquaserum (mature skin)
Aquaserum Eye
Serum Mythic
Success Lift
Success Lift Eye
Serenissime ($275.00)
Midnight Secret
Divinaura
Creme Camphrea (for blemishes)
If you love Guerlain (I know a lot of people do), the best products are the fragrances, the bronzer, and Meteorites (the pastel ball powder). |

I always want to love their products, but they are way to fragranced for me. |
