well we here in New Zealand have known about lanolin and how good it is for your skin for years...lol
lotsa sheep and well you just end up experimanting , ya know, and no not like that geez!!!
my dad (who is a sheep farmer uses lanolin) on his hands when they get all cracked and yucky and his skin gets really soft at shearing time when he is handling the sheep alot (the wool feels kinda warm and greasy when it is fresh off the sheep)but it does work wonders....
have yet to try it in my hair tho... |

there are a lot of so-called 'asian' skincare products that use lanolin as a base for moisturisers. personally i don't like it as i find it too greasy, but i know that some people swear by it. |

From what I've read lanolin is very effective in acting as a barrier that prevents moisture loss to the environment. It is also able to hold twice its weight in moisture. Might be too occlusive though for oilier skins. |

my mom has severely dry hands, especially in winter. she gets such bad cracks that she says 'the pain goes to her heart".
she tried just about everything, including prescription creams.
the only cream that really worked was 'gueen helene'. it is no longer made, but since she saved the jar, i was able to read the list ingredients. of course, the main one was lanolin.
so she just bought lanolin from australia and we are hoping that will help.
i am still looking for organic lanolin,
so if you know of a good source, please post |

When I was breastfeeding I used pure, pharmaceutical grade lanolin (Lansino and Medela) on my nipples (I breastfed him for 3.5 years, very proud of myself ) and now I still use it on my son if he gets a chapped nose from the sniffles. I would only use the pure, pharmaceutical grade though, if it's not treated properly it can be rancid or have contaminants that may not be good for our skin. |
