Hey Everyone,
I'm about to make my cleansing cream and realized the witch hazel I have at home has 14% alcohol. Is it ok to go ahead and add it? Also, I have castor oil, olive oil and jojoba oil at home. For essential oils I have lemon and peppermint. Should I add all these oils to the mix?
TIA,
Anna |

You might find the alcohol a bit drying, especially with the witch hazel and essential oils, they all have a tightening astringent effect.
It might be ethanol in the witch hazel.. and that irritates my skin very badly. Perhaps just make a smaller batch first. |

I could only find the WH with 14% alcohol too. I didn't notice anything the first few days, but by day 4-5 I had a few dry patches. I just cut the ACV toner I made with a little more water and went from a 1:1 (castor:oil) to a 1:2. It seems to be working. Also, I noticed the Vit C serum with glyercin (sp) isn't so oilly for me now. Haha. It's a learning process, isn't it? This is much more fun than I thought it would be. I wish CareKate knew how to make the Ylang Rose combo, but I don't think she read my post yet. I still don't have any essential oils, but all the stuff seems to be working. I just don't care for the vinager smell and I'd like to explore the whole oil control property of the Ylang. My quest continues. Good luck with yours!
Oh, I'm trying the OCM, HH DrH CC, ACV, and HH Vit C. Way more effort than I normally take, but I've noticed I don't need to slather on the makeup to still feel I look nice. Odd shift of effort. Take care! |
