It's been so many years since I've worn false eyelashes, and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend the best brand. Even though they haven't been a trend consistently over the years, it seems Walgreen's and CVS have always carried them (for drag customers???)! I know I can get some at these stores, but are there other brands that are better? I'm thinking of wearing them on New Years Eve. I'm not fond of the spiky-looking ones -- rather, a more full and fluffy look. |

I am so glad this question was asked, I have lately benn looking at false eye lashes myself:))
Is there a big difference between the cheaper ones and say the MAC? Also are they reusable and if so up to how many times. Are the indiviadual lashes better or the full lash?
Sorry, I've so many questions about them myself |

You should probably take my reply with a grain of salt, because I’ve never in my entire life been able to apply false lashes so that they look natural although I completely adore the look of them! (Is it just me, or does actress Jennifer Love Hewitt wear false lashes daily – there’s no way her gorgeous little “doe eyes” are the result of real lashes!!)
Anyway, I’ve heard that if you want a more natural look, you should go with the individual false lashes and you should only apply them at the outer corners of your eyes. When you wear the full-band of false lashes, it’s much more obvious that you’re wearing fakes.
The other application trick I heard was to wait at least a minute after you spread the adhesive on the lashes before sticking them on because you want to glue to start getting ‘tacky’ as it will adhere better and give you less problems.
I’ve also heard that the main difference between the false lash brands was that some are made from real hair so that they look more natural, and that is why some brands are much more expensive than others....
If anyone can provide fool-proof instructions for applying false lashes to this particular fool, I’d be greatly appreciative! |

I find the MAC lashes are better than the cheaper ones just because they are better quality and made from human hair. I've tried the Ardelle lashes and didnt really like them too much. Some of their lashes look too dramatic and really fake. And i find if your a beginner with false lashes, individual lashes are VERY hard to put on (at least for me) I have a really hard time putting on individual lashes, and they take forever plus i get myself really messy.
You can reuse your fake lashes, just gently take it off and with tweezers gently take off the glue and you can re-use them another time. And also individual lashes and regular lashes require different types of glues.
I have the MAC #7 lashes and i love them. I'll forsure wear them for new years. It is not too dramatic but look quite natural. It makes your lashes look long and seperated. |

I too adore the look of false lashes!! I have heard oprah say over and over, her desert island product is her false lashes. I have never worn them but would def love to try them. Wasnt there a makeup company that was famed for their lashes, either prescriptives or lancome...or maybe channel....anyone recall?
Happy Holidays

Thanks for all of the great advice!!! I'm liking the MAC #4 and #21. The #2 are more dramatic, but then again tempting for an occasion like New Year's Eve. My lashes and brows are naturally dark and full, but I wouldn't mind some OOOMPH that mascara alone can't provide.
The cost of the eyelashes isn't bad, but the price of the glue is dispiriting. Jeez...
Here's the MAC false eyelash page:

what i do is i buy the false lashes at MAC and then buy the glue from a drugstore. I have the Ardell glue which cost me like $4 CAD. |

I got my MAC lashes (#4 and #21). I love the #4!!! They're not very difficult to apply -- the innermost end is the hardest part to get right on any style of false eyelashes, but with the help of tweezers I manage. The #21 are too long and don't look as natural. But I think if I can mess them up a bit where they don't look so "perfect", I'll be able to use them. MAC says their lashes can be used up to five times, but I don't see why, with careful handling, they couldn't be used many more times than that. And to remove them, all one has to do is dampen the base strip area with a little water and the glue becomes soft, making removal gentle and easy. I don't know why MAC says oil is needed to do this. |
