Hi Google,
At your age, many of your skin problems are going to be hormonal ... and as such, you probably will experience good weeks and bad weeks despite a sensible skincare routine.
I don't know where you live ... but if you live where it's cool, fall weather ... where the house furnace has been on in recent days, then that too can cause skin problems. My skin always has a bit of a flareup whenever fall and spring come around. It's as if it takes a while for my skin to adjust to either the "house heat" or lack thereof. Before and after my skin care routine is virtually the same ... but during that couple of weeks, my skin goes nuts. I've yet to be able to figure it out.
We'd all like a miracle so that our skin problems would magically disappear ... but it just isn't going to happen. You, at least, have the chance that as you mature, you'll grow out of it completely. I have no such hope.
I would advise you to carry on exactly as you have been. It's a good, sensible routine. It will not, however, be able to counter things like stress, hormonal upheavals or even illness. If you get a cold or the flu ... expect your skin to look dreadful. If exams are coming up and you're nervous about them ... expect your skin to look dreadful. If there is an important dance and you've got an important date count on your skin to look dreadful.
There are too many aspects which can and are affecting your skin at this point in your life. The skin is the largest organ of the body ... and it reflects everything that's going on the inside.
What you need to do is to try to focus on something other than your skin. Follow your routine ... but please don't expect miracles ... and please don't spend all your time thinking and worrying about it. Worry is just another aspect of stress ... and worry alone can make your skin flare up.

It could just be your age and your body changing. My son's face did the same thing at 15 he is now 17 and every couple of weeks his face gets bad then clear. He uses Pro Active (that just him) I use Yonka and Dr H. So hang in and remember beauty is only skin deep. Its whats inside that matters.

...chocolate, french fries, coca-cola, fatty foods and sugar in general aren't good for your health (long run) or your skin...
Your skin will reflect what you eat... If you are prone to spots a snickersbar today will give you a throbbing zit day after or day after that...
So a good and healthy diet (lots of vegetables and fruit) will help your skin... and your concentration, and overall energy level and health.
How often do you eat chocolate, and how much?
Cause I wouldn't say that a piece of chocoloate a couple of times a week will increase breakouts - unless your sensitive to chocolate. But if your eating a chocolate bar of some sort every day, I would say that it probably has a lot do with breakouts...
hope that answers your question google5? |

It sounds like your skin is really reacting to the retin-A. My sons derm put him on that in high school and he tried it for about 6 mos. but never got passed the red stage. But he has very fair, sensitive skin. I have him on the Proheal and Hydracool by IS Clinical but it is expensive. He also uses the DR H CC and it does not aggrevate his skin nor does the ACV toner I made for him (thanks to carekate's recipe) but I added a drop or 2 of tea tree oil for him. Neither make his skin red and he is very prone to that. Some people just have a negative reaction to retin-A until their skin adjusts. I had the very same reaction and had to quit after peeling, flaking and inflamed skin and I stuck it out for 2 years only using every second-third night. Hang in there and give it time. (Easy for me to say, huh?) |

i'm 19 so i definitely know what psychotic hormonal skin is like. it's got a mind of its own. i tried using retin-a, but only for a really short time because it sucked all of the moisture out of my skin.. during winter.. with a face that's already dry. yeaaaah.. so that wasn't a winner. i recently started doing the Oil Cleansing Method. it takes up a lot more time in comparison to just using soap and water, but it's totally worth the effort. your skin produces oils that it needs to stay healthy. using regular soap-like products will take away the dirt AND your skin's oil. but the oil alone will draw dirt to the surface. yes, this causes you to break out for like the first week or two, but that's because everything's rising to the surface, getting ready to evacuate! even though the acne is there when you first start, this method makes your skin unbelievably soft. i feel my face and i'm not even phased by a few pimples. the softness is just wonderful.
the link for it is in the DIY Skincare section. sorry, i don't remember exactly which page. hope this helped a little and good luck to you! |

DHCC pushes the crap out of your skin right? so the first couple times i will get new pimples? |

google5,
Dr. H CC may have a purging effect and bring up dirt underneath your skin to the surface. Some people have break out and some have whiteheads. Usually it might last for a week. I hope this helps. |
