Hi
I have been using Dr Hauschka products for a week now, and have already noticed a dramatic improvement in my skin. I'm very excited about this!! After trying many different products for my sensitive skin with mild but worsening rosacea, it's very nice to feel like something's finally working for me!! My pores are tighter, and my face is generally less red and irritated. I also love the fact that Dr H supports biodynamic farming, organic ingredients and holistic procedures.
However, the downside is that my skin has become super dry, particularly on my cheeks. Has anyone else experienced this with Dr Hauschka products? I used to have oily skin in my twenties, then combination skin as I entered my thirties. After starting on Dr H I have a normal T-zone (for the first time in my life!) but very dry everywhere else.
I am following Dr Hauschka's regime to the letter, I'm even using the Rhythmic Conditioner ampules (ouch, they are expensive!!). I used to use a LOT of moisturiser, but now I'm just using a small amount in the morning, and none at night (as specified by Dr H),is it possible that my skin is simply adjusting to being less dependent on a moisturiser? I really want to keep using these products, but I hate the dryness.
Any comments/advice? Oh, one thing I haven't tried yet is the Rejuvenating Mask, I am waiting for an order to be delivered. I am hoping it will be the answer to my prayers...
Thanks!

Hi Yulia,
My skin adapted surprisingly well to the no-moituriser routine. I didn't think it would at all. However, perhaps it might be better to ease into it rather than just stop using moisturiser all of a sudden? So, cheat just for a little while and use a bit of moisturiser on the drier areas? It's hard to say if your skin is just adjusting - how long have you used these products for?
If you're doing a regular mask (or leaving the rejuvinating mask overnight) then that should help as well btw.
I'm very happy to hear that you're finding your skin is improving - I love the Dr Hauschka line! |

Hi Yulia,
I remember when I first went on to using the products that my skin was quite dry initially, but it soon settled down to be back to normal (maybe a couple of weeks to a month for settling in, I can't really remember). I put this down to weaning my skin off the rich moisturisers I had been using and letting it 'fend for itself' as it were.
I'd try using a little more moisturiser in the morning (which one are you using by the way?) just on the places that you need it. I find even now that some days I put an extra bit of quince day moisturiser on my cheeks, my driest part. But if that's not enough it's okay to put on something like the rose cream for extra extra moisture.
Also, I know it's hard to not use a night moisturiser but if you can stick it out, it is worth it in the long run, well in my humble opinion anyway.

I experienced the same thing!!! I did the amps and all and still noticed it. I think it was the no moisture at night that was doing it...I have used a very heavy night cream for years...I have started using pure aloe vera gel on my face at night and it has helped. I am using a brand called Jason from whole foods. It feels like it makes the problem worse when you put it on but in the morning my face is fine and it dosent dry out during the day.
I have tried the revit mask and wasnt overly impressed...I slept in it one night and noticed a small improvement but would not buy it again. If you want a great mask try "Mint Julep Mask"...it is $3 at your local CVS...in the states. |

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this dryness, but it sounds like it might settle down. I hope so.
I am using a trial size Quince Day Cream at the moment, and I've just ordered a full size tube - d'oh! Perhaps I should have ordered the Rose as well. I might have to invest in a tube of the Rose so I can mix and match a little.
I might also try a some aloe gel at night for a while, that sounds like a good option.
Cheers!

no, only use the ampules in the night...your skin must learn to work.. and for day-time you can use the fluid moisterizer.First you use the lotion ( spray) and then the fluid moisteerizer... at night, first the lotion and then the ampules...
Kind regards

Just wondered, you never said whether you were using a toner. I went from never using a toner to vertually dependent on it once I discovered the Dr Hauschka regime. At night I use the cleansing cream and then witch hazel as a toner (I have oily skin), however in the winter I find my skin goes a lot dryer so I switch to Rosewater which is much better.
On nights where my skin feels really tight then I put some Rejuvenating mask on as a night cream or a little bit od Decleor Neroli Aromaessence. |

Hi Rosebud, I never used to use a toner either, but now I am using the Dr H facial toner. In the morning I use the cleansing cream to try and get rid of some of the dry skin flakes (I don't rub or scrub, even though I am tempted!), then I use the facial toner and quince day cream. At night I use the cleansing milk and finish with a rhythmic conditioner ampule.
Dia, I have been using the ampules instead of the toner at night. Should I be using both?
When I get my rejuvenating mask I am going to try applying a little of the mask under the day cream in the mornings. I also have the clay mask on order so I can do a treatment every now and then.
Cheers!

hi Yulia
dr. Hauschka has 2 lotions (both spray's) one is for dry and sensetive skin, the other for oily skin.. When you use the skinconditioner at night, you do'nt use the lotion.. |

Hi Yulia,
So, at the moment your routinue should looking something like this
AM
Cleansing cream
Toner
Quince moisturiser
PM
Cleansing milk
Ampule
The ampule works in place of the toner so you don't need to use both!

Hi, I thought I would put in my two cents as I did go to several Dr.H estheticians and have worked closely with one for a long period of time. I was told that the cleansing cream can be drying, especially for skin that is already normal to dry. The more you use it the more it regulates, dries the skin out due to its cleansing action. I was told if your skin became too dry you could mix a little Cleansing milk with the cleansing cream to add more moisture, especially for rosacea.
Its interesting how many ways they mix products to create customized products!
Dr.H is all natural etc, yet due to the purity of the products they can have a dramatic change in the skin. I know one Dr.H product rep who has been breaking out for over a year due to her skin detoxifying!! When you start using the products its best not to go too crazy, use a few at a time.
Hope this sheds some light on your concern,
Feliz |
