I received her starter kit as a gift at a benefit a few weeks ago. By now, everybody here knows I'm an IS Clinical cultist, but I did want to say a few things about the products in this kit and the line in general.

I have tremendous respect for Dr. Wexler and I've always appreciated the fact that, whenever she's interviewed in one of the fashion rags, her skincare recommendations take into account that some people just aren't prepared to refinance their homes to pay for skincare products. She has always offered a range of products, many of which are very affordable to someone with a low to moderate budget. As I understand it, she has tried to create a line that is similarly affordable.

I've looked at the list prices of her products. They aren't priced like supermarket or drugstore brands, but they're alot more affordable than other lines. The question, obviously, is do they work?

Well, I wasn't about to stop using IS Clinical to find out - I'm way too happy with the current state of my skin. But, I did try a couple of the products included in the starter kit.

I give HIGH MARKS to her REsurfacing Microdermasion System. She recommends using it daily and, although that sounds like alot, the consistency is fine enough that, unless you have very sensitive skin, I think it's a winner.

I also found the Deep Wrinkle Eye Repair cream to be lovely. I use the IS Clinical Eye Firming Complex, but I've applied this stuff over it. It has a delightful light but still luxurious consistency and it's VERY moisturizing without being at all heavy (i.e. no milia worries with this product).

The only other product I tried was the MMPi Regenerating Serum. I've been applying it to my neck and chest. First, I should point out that it isn't a serum at all - it's pure like a whipped gel. It disappears into the skin very QUICKLY and leaves no residue at all. What it does leave is a velvety feel to the skin. It seems to have a "plumping" effect that's similar to IS Clinical's HydraCool but without that slightly sticky initial feeling one gets immediately after applying the HydraCool. And, it seems almost mattifying. Whether it is truly "regenerating" - I can't really say.

All in all, although I'm not the least bit tempted to switch to these products above my current Prevage / IS Clinical routine, I do think the line represents a positive and very affordable skin care regimen for someone who is seeking one.

My kit didn't include her Glyco Peel System or her No-Injection Wrinkle Smoother - both sound like interesting products though.

She also has a couple of lip conditioning and plumping products that look kind of interesting. I'm not really looking for anything along these lines though - between my Hyaluronic Supplements and simple Rosebud Lip Salve, I'm as pouty as i wannabe.... Smile

Katee -

It seems our reviews of the PW line are somewhat similar.

I just gave it a quick review as well in the "few of my favorite things" thread.

I like the microderm system as well, and the eyecream is really quite nice.

However, the serum.....wasn't loving that. On me, it didn't absorb well at all. Kind of just sat there or balled up. Can't quite figure it out, but needless to say, I haven't used it since.

From your terrific experience with the IS clinical line, it would have to take one heck of a product line to sway you away! That is so fantastic that the IS products work so well for you. From all the raves I read, you are not alone!!!

Katee, are you using the new version of Prevage? I read somewhere that it's more emollient, so I'm hesitating on re-ordering. Confused

Gee, I didn't know there was a new version of Prevage! I'm still using the old stuff and I have another in the cabinet. I'd be interested to hear more about the newer version...

Here is the ingredients for the newly reformulated Prevage MD ( )
Found this ingredient list on the website for the new reformulated Prevage antioxidant cream.
http://prevagemd.com/enter.asp

It looks more moisturizing with phospholipids, algae extract, hyaluronate, sodium PCA, trehalose and urea. Deoxyarbutin is supposed to be a lightening ingredient, just like idebenone.

What do you think about the new formula?

Prevage MD 1% idebenone

water, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, pentylene glycol, PEG-8, glycerin, phospholipids, isopropyl lauroyl sarcosinate, phenoxyethanol, algae extract, ammonium acryloyldimethyl taurate/VP copolymer, hydroxydecyl ubiquinone, camellia sinensis leaf extract, sodium hyaluronate, PPG-2 isoceteth-20 acetate, propylene glycol, sodium PCA, trehalose, urea, polyphosphorylcholine glycol acrylate, deoxyarbutin, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/Beheneth-25 methacrylate crosspolymer, caprylyl/capryl glucoside, sodium acrylate/acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, polyquaternium-51 , polyisobutene, butylene glycol, sodium hydroxide, dimethylmethoxy chromanol, mica, benzoic acid, methylparaben, propylparaben, sorbic acid, chlorphenesin, red 4, titanium dioxide.

Got this from MUA. I don't have the box anymore so I can't compare ingredients. Maybe I'll check with skinstore & see what's up. Hope they didn't make it more emollient. That would make it harder to layer in the a.m.-my skin doesn't need more oil. Let you know

I got the original PW starter kit... I really want to use the serum, but every time I do I get a big whitehead -- and I have dry skin, never break out!

Here's the response from skinstore re the prevage:

To the best of my knowledge, the only change was more water....water is now the first ingredient whereas it used to be about the third. Possibly to make it less harsh. Having said that, it still has the 1% active ingredient which would make it just as effective. However, to be sure about actual chemistry and exact reasons for change you would need to ask the manufacturer themselves.

Thank you!

Any users of prevage (are there any left?) post what you think of the new version
