I received my Peter Thomas Roth Power K Eye Rescue last week and I applied the a tiny amount of product underneath my eyes as per instructions. I noticed a stinging sensation for the 3 days that I applied the product in the morning and evening. When I woke up, the area underneath my eyes were swollen and had small tiny red bumps (almost like a rash). Mad

I immediately stopped using this product. I have not in anyway changed my makeup or skincare regime; I have been using the same products for the past couple of years and have never had this kind of reaction. The area underneath my eyes were completely normal prior to the application of the PTR cream.
I am completed disappointed in this product because of the reaction it has caused and the fact that I have to wait for my eyes to heal (not applying anything under the eyes until they completely heal first). Brick wall

I am also angry that this product cost me $145CAD and the manufacturer will not even give me any sort of refund or any credit and say that I must deal with the retailer directly. Mad

Even though this product has received some positive reviews, I would be cautious and do some more research before buying this product!

Jewel lady, I understand your frustration; there's nothing worse than buying a pricey item with the hope of improving your skin and finding that not only did it not improve anything, but actually made it worse!

I should probably also mention that I am NOT a fan of Peter Thomas Roth products. I find them to be harsh and grossly overpriced. With all that said, however, your argument is not with the manufacturer, but with the retailer who sold you the product. It's a simple business practice. Most companies are not set up to handle sales directly to the consumer. Furthermore, you didn't pay THEM - you paid a retailer. Why would you expect to get a refund from someone other than the recipient of your money?

Alot of members here, most of whom are pretty selective about the products they choose, rave about the product. Just goes to show you that everyone's skin reacts differently.

Sorry you had this problem. I haven't tried this line but have had reactions to some popular products. I try to use a sample first and test it under my chin (so spot will not show much) before I use it on my face.
If your skin is very sensitive you might also want to start new products slowly. I know your frustration, one of the peptide creams I used OHT Peptide gave me a reaction and I tried to return it but their was fine print in the return policy about registering on somewhere on the site and if you hadn't when you ordered you couldn't get your money back.
You have to be careful some even "reputable" sites have strings on returns and their automatic ship programs usually are a horrible idea.

I don't order from sites with bad policies but you usually do not find out until you get burned. Maybe we should have a sticky here to report problems with mail order companies and for ones that have given us good service?

Hi Katee,
Thank you for your support and your suggestions. Unfortunately, EDS will only accept a returned product only if it is unopened. I have asked them to contact the their Canadian distributor to see if I can possibly get a refund or credit. So in the meantime, I'll just have to be patient.
I do agree with you that positive reviews on some products don't necessarily mean that it can be tolerated by everyone, nor is there any guarantee of not having a negative reaction.
I definitely will never purchase Peter Thomas Roth products again!!!

Thanks so much for your experience and support. I completely agree with you that problems should be reported and great service should be complimented.
I am certainly not interested in trying out any of PTR products again.
I am disappointed not at the fact that this product costs so much and didn't live up to it's claims, however, I am pissed because it gave a rash underneath my eyes and I just have to wait patiently until it heals. I looked much better before I even tried this product.
Vanity can be a steep price to pay!!! Buyer Beware!!!

I am a bit surprised at your reaction to this product- I have used many PTR products and love them. I have not used the Power K Eye Rescue, though (has negative reviews on MUA, but only about the effectiveness, nothing about reactions).
Perhaps the company (PTR) might consider an exchange for other products if the retailer does not come through?
I guess everyone's skin truly is different. Confused

I guess you have been fortunate enough to have used their products and loved them.
I have used numerous eye creams over the years ranging from department store brands to health food store brands to high-end lines. And I have never had this type of reaction, especially to happen with only a few applications. My skin is fairly normal and isn't really sensitive at all.
I don't expect that everyone will get the same reaction. I can only write about what happened to me personally.

Hi, im new to this place, just recieved my first order and am very impressed so far. Ive been browsing the forums for a while and have just signed up Very Happy

but in regards to this thread in particular, its very bad luck to spend that much only to have it wasted after 3 uses Sad

Either way, instead of being sworn off the brand, perhaps check the ingrediants and chemicals used in it. Might help you avoid finding any negative reactions in the same brand and other products. just my 2c Very Happy

Jewel Lady, have you considered selling it on EBay? Or swapping it on MUA?
I have seen partially used cosmetics swapped/sold before, especially expensive ones.
You probably won't recover the original retail price, but, there are many countries that cannot get PTR and may find even a used item irresistable.
Just a suggestion.......

What MUA stands for is Make Up Alley, a website that lists products and their ratings from people who have used them before. Some people like you don't like or get bad reactions from products and swap them for others. This way, you don't have a product that is unused just sitting around when you can get something in return for it.

I'm sorry to hear that this didn't work for you and irritated your skin. This is the only cream that had given me significant results in terms of dark circles, I used it for an extended period of time and never had any problems (unlike the Chanel Eye Tonic for dark circles that gave me the same thing that you just described).

No worries, I understand that everyone has a different constitution and everyone's skin may react differently to the same product. I am glad that it was effective for you. By the way, I did manage to convince the retailer to accept my return of the product and I should be expecting a refund from the distributor in the near future. I'll just keep trying until I can find one that works for me!

I received my PTR today and used it (even on my eyelids - is that bad?) I didn't notice any reaction but then everyone is different. Shall see how it works over the course of the weeks.

I never used it on the eyelids - it says to use under the eyes (if I recall correctly) and that is what I did. I don't recall having any stinging with it either, I'd keep an eye on that juls_sal for potential further irritation.

I didn't get any of the stinging. But I am keeping an eye on my eye so to speak.

What is the reason for not using it on the eyelids?

Also, it has little bead thingies in them, are you meant to crush them before applying, I did try but I do find it difficult they don't seem to dissolve easily.

well, my dark circles are all around my eyes, upper and lower.

That's the CoQ10. You do indeed need to crush these and I know what you mean about how difficult this is, particularly on the gentle eye area. I ended up crushing these on the back of my palm and then applying to the eye area Embarassed

I did use the tip of crushing them but didn't try the back of my hand. I tried it in my palm with a nail and they are still a bit tricky! If you don't then you just get beadies on your eyes.

I'll try crushing them harder! I feel as if I am wasting if I don't bother and just get rid of them once on my eye.

Mabsy did this cream work for you?

Good Morning Julia,
Thank you for your interest in our product line! If your eye area is slightly dry, a slight tingling sensation is normal. The Power K Eye Rescue is not recommended to put directly on the upper eye lid.
It is best to use under the eye and on the upper orbital bone. All products travel underneath the skin once they are absorbed, so don't worry it is still effective.
