Does it soothe his eczema or heal them?
I have pretty bad flare ups as well, nothing wrong with having more treatments for it =p |

It both soothes and heals his eczema. He does use a prescription medication when it gets horrid. Then he puts the Shea over the prescription to seal it in. |

I also use it on my feet, and as lip moisturiser. I just love it. During a winter I use it as hand and body cream. |

The hand cream and the pure shea butter is great. But the other stuff from this line is... not so impressing.
I tried the eye balm once. My skin can not absorb it at all. |

I can't apply it as lip balm. I don't like the smell..........
However, it is good for my eblows and knees and I won't see any cracks after using it. |

butterflyrainbow: Shea butter is a natural product derived from the nuts of a tree in Africa. Actives may be added to Shea butter but I don't believe it can be duplicated by DYI. |

thanks for your response milbader.
I know you can buy pure shea butter easily, I was just wondering if it was easy to make it extra special, like the L'Occitane shea butter.
If the L'Occitane is 100% shea butter, what makes it different than shea butter you can buy elsewhere? |

From what I understand the L'Occitane Shea Butter is made especially for L'Occitane from specific areas of Burkina Faso.
Here is a link with a descripton and there is also a video showing how the shea butter is made.

I believe, from my personal use, that their product is very pure without foreign substances.
Raw shea butter would be more yellow. |

I feel it is great for lips! It is also good for dry cuticles, or any dry area. Gentle, and good with sensitive skin. |

May I ask where his eczema is? Face, arms, behind the knees, ears, neck, etc.? And how severe is it?
I found that going through university, my eczema got worse. It is interesting that you say you put the shea butter over the medication to seal it in. I always avoided that because I felt as though my medication would no longer be useful.
I am interested in more details about this product because I definitely want to try it on my eczema!! |

the Shea Butter is terrific, especially in the winter. I like the Lavender scented hand cream as well. Lovely scent and not overpowering |

My 19 yr old son was born with eczema. He gets it on his scalp, hands, wrists, arms, legs (especially in back of the knees) so I would say just about anywhere.
He has prescription medication that he uses when it flares out of control. When is not raging he uses the 100% L'Occitane Shea Butter in the tin. He also takes the small travel tin to work.
My son works as a cook in a high end resort here in AZ so he is constantly washing his hands and using the gloves. |

Pure shea butter is an exellent product. A little expensive for the amount you get. But having tried other pure sear butter products you can appreciate the quality of it. |
