Hi
I have quite bad wrinkles around my eye and my under eye area is very crepey and saggy. I have been looking at buying some of the cellular vit c serum and eyebright. Can anyone please tell me if the vit c is ok for the eye area too. I have used a vit c serum at 12% and did not have any probs with that. Also would the eye bright make my eyes less baggy and firm them up.
I am in desperate need to firm up the skin around my eyes. I also have two deep frown lines which wont budge. I am also using Alpha Derma at the moment and was using okusil but this seemed to make my eyes worse.
I hope someone can help me please. Any suggestions as to how i can reduce the apperance of wrinkles and prevent new ones forming together with any good eye firming creams would be very much appreciated
Thanks

Sally, I use both of those and have for a long time. The C (as with all good C serums) helps to stimulate collagen synthesis so after using regularly for awhile, your skin will firm up. I have no problem with using this one under my eyes either. I put it on, let it soak in, then put the Eye Bright on. I think the EB is great for brightening and taking away puffiness (I have allergies)but I don't think it is for firming at all. It's in a hyaluronic acid base which does make it nice for topping off with moisturizer. The HA pulls the moisturizer deeper into the skin.
Did you ever consider trying a retinoid like Retin-A, Retin-A Micro or Renova? Tretinoin has 30 plus years of clinical results that prove it is the best thing out there for thickening the skin (thus firming) and getting rid of old sun damage and fine wrinkling. I use C each AM but Retin-A every other night and that combo seems to be a winner for me. Maybe you might think of trying a tretinoin product.... |

hi betteract
thankyou for your reply. I had not thought about using these before. do they sell them on EDS. Sorry to be a pain but im not too clued up with all these products hence the reason im forever asking questions over and over. I am needing to buy a vit c serum but am unsure as whether to go for the cellular skin vit c + firming or the vit c serum from psf. |

Hi betterat40
Firstly apologies - just noticed i wrote your name wrong in previous message)
I have been looking over the site to see what else comes up about Retin A, tretinoin etc. Im feeling a bit confursed now. Plus a little worried that i may choose something like this and it cause more damage to my skin by thinig it . I really cant cope with having even more saggier skin and wrinkles. If i go for a tretinoin where would i find this and how would i incorporate in with a vit c serum, the alpha derma. Which would be the best type to get for my skin. Also what about a moisurising firming cream for eyes and face. My skin does seem to be dehydrated a lot of the time. Oh dear how confused can one person get??? |

Retin-A is generally available only through doctors but you can find it online without an Rx these days. For your skin, I'd start easy and go with a 0.025% cream formulation. The gels will make you flake too much. Don't worry about Retin-A hurting your skin. It has 30 years of clinical results to support it's use in helping to correct wrinkles. Go to PubMed and put Retin-A or tretinoin as the search term and you'll get a ton of info on it to alleviate your concerns.
C serums like the Cellular Skin Rx one (I use this one)should be used in the AM. You could use your C first, then your AlphaDerma ( which is moisturizing for your face). Then use the Retin-A product at night. As always, a good sunscreen is a requirement for any good skincare program.
When you first start using Retin-A, use it sparingly and infrequently. 3/2/1 rule is best...every third night for a few weeks then every other night for a few weeks then see if you can handle it every night. I have never been able to get to this point. My skin flakes too much with nightly use.
I use Burt's Bees Royal Jelly Eye Creme on my eyes but still really have yet to find my favorite eye cream. Many here mention Cellcosmet as a good one though.
Hope this helps! |

MD Formulation has an eye cream that contain Retinod, a form of Retin-A. Its called Vita-A eye cream. You don't have to use it everynight if you find it drying. Sometimes I would just top it off with another eye cream that is more moisturizing.
Also, if you want to use Retin-A related products for face, Skinceutical makes Retinod 0.5 and 1.0
And, definately get a C-serum (at least for the face). If your skin is on the dryer side then many people recommend Cellular Skin Rx, and if your skin is more normal/combo, PSF, Vivier, JB C&C may be good for you. Many brands also make lower % C-serums for the eye area.
I hope this helps |

Hi Betterat40 and Wildcat
Thank you both so much for your help. I think i maybe understanding a little more now and hopefully can start a good skincare regime.
Does this kind of routine sound right:-
AM
Vit C - I have actually ordered the one from PSF after looking up about Vit C on the forum. Alpha Derma
I would like to incorporate a skin firming product for face and eyes. Which type of creams should i be looking at for day time use. I can then use a Retin-A or tretinoin (which ones though - ive read that tretinoin is probably the best to go for) at night (but not every night)
Do I need anything else in the day to help with wrinkles and sagging skin
PM
Vit C - should i use this befor a Retin-A or tretinoin cream or only use on nights that I dont use them
What other treament creams should i use at night for the eye and face area - to keep my skin hydrated and firm? Should i just use the Alpha Derma PM as well.
SOrry to ask so much. im just trying so hard to sort a proper skincare routine out and stick to it
I really do appreciate all your advice even though it appears i may ask the same question over
Thanks

hi Betterat40
Please could you let me know which products are tretinoin for face and eyes and where I can purchase them from. Still a bit confused as to which products contain this or retin A / retinol. Are ones with tretinoin the best ones for me to go for
thanks

You only need to wear vit-C serum once a day. The half life of vit-C is like 4 days. So, applying twice a day is a bit a waste. You should wear vit-C in the morning because it makes sunscreen more effective.
You should also look for an eye cream with SPF & C. Murad makes one and it gets good reviews on this forum.
Always wear sunscreen during the day.
It is better to use retin-A or retinol products or other actives at night. |

Ditto to what WildCat and betterat40. My routine:
Vit. C serum and AlphaDerma in the AM
Retin-a product at night (I use prescription Renova)
I incorporate other moisturizing products with these, here and there...but those are my core active products that I will never be without! |
