Hi everyone,
I am new to posting on these boards, so please bear with me if my review is not so great. But, I have been reading the boards for almost a month now, have tried out a few PSF products, and so I guess I am with the program. Thanks so much!
This review is about the Babor HSR eye cream that i got in my first test tube through the new beauty program. I have had the test tube for a while but had not bothered to try the eye cream.
Got the eye cream out on one of those days when I had not slept well and my lids were droopy. Until now, I haven't used eye creams consistently coz of having sensitive eyes. Most eye creams irritate my eyes.
The first and biggest pro for me was that this eye cream did not irritate my eyes. I noticed an immediate lift, and after 3 weeks of regular use (the sample lasted that long), my eyes seem like they are almost a size bigger.
The other surprising side effect was the thickening of my lashes. I was reading the ingredients, and noticed that it had panthenol in it. Don't a lot of shampoos and hair stuff have panthenol in them? I have always had decent lashes, but now they look thicker, more conditioned, and much more noticeable.
So this is a definite buy for me. I felt like I had to share this info. |

Thanks for the review as I have often briefly looked at this product. Is it a heavy or light cream and does it absorb easily? |

Bushy, it is light in the sense that it gets absorbed very quickly. But it is also moisturising.
My skin is pretty oily otherwise, but this hasn't given me those bumps or milia or anything like that. |

Thanks seattlegirl. I also have oily skin so my skin just does not like anything that won't absorb quickly. From previous experience, I have found that I seem to receive the most benefit from those products that absorb rapidly with very little rubbing or massage. Do you think it would cause puffiness? |

Great review seattlegirl, and welcome. This product will go on my list for future reference. Like bushy, I am also concerned about puffiness, so was also wondering about that. Although I'm really liking the product I'm using now as it does help with the puffy eyes problem, I'm always game to try new things. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Bushy, no this hasn't caused any puffiness even though it moisturises well.
That is usually my gripe with eye creams, if they solve a problem, they create another. If they moisturise, they cause puffiness, if they lift, they irritate your eyes. I am otherwise very skeptical about eye creams, but was really happy about this one. It doesen't give you the immediate wow effect, but addresses multiple problems, without giving you additional ones. And the thickening of lashes is a nice bonus.
Thanks so much, sportygirl! I don't puffiness issues (yet), and so, I don't know if this cream will help with that. But the description of the cream claims that it will, and so it may. |

Thanks, havana8. I don't know if the saample I had had the package insert with it, so don't have the complete list of ingredients.
EDS says that it has HSR, and panthenol. The testtube pamphlet which has the descriptions of all the products, says that it has multitendyn(??), and phytic acid.
I will try to google and search for the ingredients. |

Ok, found this on another site.
The active ingredients are, plant ceramides and phosphollpids, macadamia nut oil, corn germ oil and mango seed oil, Panthenol.

Hope this helps. |

interesting! i wonder if it is the combination of the oils and the panthenol that make the lashes thicker? |

That could be, because I was just reading up about panthenol. What I read was that even though Panthenol helps with sheen, and conditioning, it doesen't actually 'nourish' hair. So it could have been the oils that nourished, and panthenol conditioned, and that is how my lashes started looking thicker. |

seattlegirl, I've been using the Babor HSR lifting eye cream each morning for .. maybe 9-12 months. I also found it to be fantastic in the first 6 months or so. I was looking for something with a lifting effect that didn't 'ball up' under makeup, and this product was perfect. Unfortunately - it must have been a pretty bad last 3 months for the ageing process for me - I've now started to develop crepey-ness in my eyelids, and this cream isn't adressing that at all. So I'm looking to make the switch to something a bit more hard core, but I have to say I found this an excellent product in that it brought quick lifting results.
I found your observation about lash thickening interesting. I didn't experience that effect. |

I also used a sample pot of the Babor HSR Lifting Eye Cream for about 3 weeks. I really liked it and experienced the same effects you did except for the improvement in lashes. However, it wasn't a HG for me and I have found other products that work even better. |

ejthomas, sorry that it did not work for you after the 6 months. That is exactly why I haven't bought the full size yet. Please do share the other products that worked for you.
I had samples of Darphin lifting eye serum, and the PSF phyto lift that I am experimenting right now. The Darphin stuff doesen't do much in terms of lifting, and it isn't moisturising either, so for me it is pretty useless.
The PSF does a good job with the lifting, but it doesen't moisturize, and it stings a little when I first put it on. It is a teeny tiny bit more lifting than the Babor. But I like the fact that the Babor lifts AND moisturises. |

Emma2006: This is my first time using Babor also, i honestly would not have bought it if not for the testtube.
Jeannie: Please do share info about the other products. I love trying out new stuff
Skincare: I love the New beauty mag also, read it from cover to cover...if only I had paid this much attention in school..sigh.. |

I am not exactly sure how much I trust info on products though, because I get this feeling that they are marketing certain lines. |

Thanks for the review. It got me thinking that I need to take a look at this line again.
I have a lot of good things about Barbor, but I would rather be cautious because it's one of the items I heard about the most extreme reviews last couple of years. Will keep an eye on it. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Skincare, that could be true, because they have a Babor sample again in the next testtube.
And sometimes, I also get this feeling that the sample is more potent than the full size product. case in point; I fell in love with the Guerlaine Orchidee when I got a sample of it during the neiman marcus beauty week. I ran out and spent $300 on the full size product, and it didn't do anything for me.
But the above review is an objective one based on my experience with the sample. This cream did impress me. I am so tempted to buy the full size, but want to finish the psf sample and then decide. |

Jeannie, this is the first time I have used a product from the Babor line, and honestly, I did not expect much from it. And that is why I was pleasantly surprised.
Thanks for reading. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I used to think that also....but I don't think companies can afford to give away better quality samples for free. I try to remember what my doctor said about giving a product at least three months to notice some change. |

seattle girl, you may be sorry you asked! I've been a Babor fan for years. Will probably end up putting a review on for all these products in the reviews area eventually, but my fave product at the moment is the Ultimate Selection day cream. I've been using that for about 6 months - best day cream I've ever used, although I have no idea whatsoever of what's in it. I've got relatively normal / combo skin. This provides a good level of hydration all day, I've noticed a reduction in fine lines, reduction in minor breakouts, better overall tone, great base for makeup. The first time I tried it, I was pleasantly shocked at how good my skin looked. The only other time I've experienced that is with La Prarie skin caviar, but the two products are completely different. This one leaves the skin with a velvety sort of texture, no shimmer. Anyway, other products I've used recently in the Babor line, but don't rate quite as highly are the hy-ol (oil-based cleansers) and extracts (fantastic, but had to discontinue use after about a year as I started to break out), vitamin c day cream & ampoules (ok, but nothing amazing), the b young sensitive day cream (too light for my needs), the gentle peel (non-event), and occasionally used their Biogen mask (nothing spectacular). Overall, Ultimate Selection Day Cream, the HSR eye cream (for the first six months) and the Hy-ol combos (when not breaking out) are the star products for me. One other thing - they used to make a product called Oxygen Peel, which was absolutely beserk...after massaging in with water for a few minutes, it would force impurities out of the skin - you expect a bit of rubbish, but honestly, this brought out tiny trapped things in the skin, like wool fibres. I think they discontinued it because it was too harsh, because after using this peel, you'd be close to giving yourself a first-degree burn! My beauty therapist friend once recounted removing a very small bit of gravel from one of her client's cheeks. Pity they don't make it any more. It was a standout miracle product! |
