Has anyone had experience using Alphaderma CE with a serum, lightener, or an additional moisturizer? Would like your input on how additional products affect its efficacy. |

Hi there,
In theory it shouldn't make any difference at all mixing different makes of skincare, despite what the manufacturers say. However, some serums and treatments can be affected (either positively or negatively) by that you use before.
For example, using an aha/bha exfoliating wash is fine before using a vitamin C serum, because C serums have a low pH as do aha/bha washes. Use such a wash and then put a copper peptide serum on however, and you have effectively nulled any benefits in the CP because it breaks down in low pH environments, so you have to wait half an hour for the skin to neutralise itself.
As far as I know, ADCE is pH neutral, so as long as your products you use beforehand are also neutral or only mildly acidic, I wouldn't think there is a problem with mixing them.
That said, many members here apply low pH vit C serums before aDCE with good results.
In terms of layering, you want to generally start with thinnest first.

Hi Liz,
Thanks for your reply.
Was wondering if you had any idea about typical PH levels of of the following (cos I sure don't):
- TDF 10% AHA lotion
- Christian Dior DiorSnow Whitening Serum
I'd like to continue to use these as I've had good results from them so far, and don't see (yet) how Alphaderma CE's benefits extend to those that these 2 products give.

Hi,
I'm not familiar with the dior stuff, so not sure how it would compare to ADCE, I would guess it is pH neutral to about pH5.5, which is the ave skin's pH.
If your AHA lotion is any good, it will be quite acidic, but even 10% solutions can be buffered to a higher pH, so it's impossible to tell without seeing the ingredients or actually sticking a bit of litmus paper in it.
ADCE's main benefits derive from the agiriline it contains. This is a gentle muscle relaxant and is often touted as botox in a bottle, though it works differently and it isn't as dramatic. It is a nice formulation and also contains ALA, which is a good anti oxidant and DMAE which helps with skin firming. It also have vit C in the form of ascorbyl palmate (I think...can't remember which one it is exactly). Vit C in L-ascorbic acid form has been shown to stimulate collagen production at low pH and in concentrations of 8-20%. Jury is still out whether the fat soluble form in ADCE also does the trick, but many, many members here have had very good results with it.
One thing is for sure about ADCE, it isn't an exfoliant like the TDF and it isn't a lightening serum either, which I assume the Dior is, though Vit C can help with hyperpigmentation.
I think you need to be specific about your particular skincare aims and also be realistic too. Much as ADCE is a really good product and probably much better formulated than many 'designer' products, it wouldn't help someone like my mum who at 65 has severe sun and weathering damage. For someone in their 50s who has taken reasonable care of their skin, it is good stuff though.
I expect all that is clear as mud now! |

Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, the products in combo are doing a great job, actrually. I ran the post in case someone had more info on which layer should go on first - wishfully thinking that if I layed them differently, even better benefits would come
Thanks again,
