Hello, I have very sensitive skin, sometimes dry, sometimes oily. Most of the time my skin has redness. My pores are little open, but again it depends on the time of the year, humidity and so on. I use Valmont and Cellcosmet Eye Creams. Does anyone knows a good moisturizer for the face? May be there is something else that I can do for my skin ? It is not suppose to be exactly from above mentioned lines. Sorry for long story, but I really need an advice in care for my skin I appreciate your suggestions. |

Have you used natural skincare lines before and had any problems with them? Decleor has a great moisturiser called Harmonie Essentielle, which is for sensitive and reactive skins. I don't have sensitive skin but I keep a tube on hand because it's really effective at clearing up skin rashes, irritations etc |

I never tried Decleor because I have allergies to some botanical extracts, for example calendula, and I think (I'm not sure)Decleor has most of them.I am thinking to try Dr. Haushka( sorry if I misspell the name),but again I am not sure if this line is for sensitive skin. I also tried Rosh Posey line and I had a very bad allergic reaction even though it is suppose to be hypoallergenic I use Cellcosmet and Valmont for eyes, but it is really expensive if I buy the whole line. Will be glad if you have any other suggestions |

I think it might be safer if you avoid the Dr Hauschka and Decleor if you know you've had reactions to natural ingredients before - unless you know exactly what they are and are going to look at ingredient lists. I'm sorry, I don't know what else to suggest to you. I don't have sensitive skin so it's a bit hard for me to suggest things without being worried that they would make your skin react. I hope others will have some good suggestions for you though. |

Dermalogica would be good for sensitive and redness of the skin. I use the gentle soothing booster underneath my moisturizer to help calm and hydrate sensitive skin as well as take away some of that redness caused by harsh environment. |

I agree! I've been loyal to Dermalogica simply because it's the only line I can trust that won't irritate my skin. Other than Dermalogica moisturisers I highly recommend pure rosehip oil (like Kosmea) or olive oil fragranced with a few drops of ylang-ylang.

Hello, where do you buy the pure rosehip oil, ylang-ylang, jojoba oil, or any other types of oil? Do you get them at the drug-store?
Thanks |

I buy my rosehip oil from a drug store. The essential oils I get from health food shops or online. Jurlique, L'Occitane and the Body Shop also sell a selection of essential oils, as do other stores like them. The Body Shop ones are in smaller bottles (5ml) and are less expensive than the other two I mentioned. |

Laral,
Have you tried any of the Dermalogica line?
I have skin like yours. It reacts to everything!
Right now I use Dermalogica's Active moist and Multi-toner though I'm about to switch to the soothing toner (it's for sensitive skin) and smoothing cream (moistureizer for dry skin).
Lots of us with sensitive skin also rave about the Daily Microfoliant and the gentle soothing booster.
I've been working on a DIY version of the microfoliant. I'll post it in the DIY section when I finish. |

Hello Gwynnie,
I never used Dermalogica. I read many good things about this product and I want to try it. What is Daily Microfoliant? Is it from Dermalogica line? Have you try Dermalogica Eye creams( I know they have 3 types of it)? |

here's a product for sensitive skin with redness:
Soothing Couperose Gel (broken capillaries/redness)
A strengthening treatment for sensitive skin with ultra-soothing organic plant extracts. Contains fortifying and toning horsechestnut, soothing st john's wort, calming chamomile and astringent and toning witch hazel to help reduce a red blotchy appearance.
And there is also a moisurizer for really sensitive skin that you can follow the gel with (or maybe the moisturizer would do the job on its own, without using the gel):
Soothing Moisturiser (sensitive skin)
A soothing moisturiser with organic herb and flower extracts, nut and seed oils and butters, and plant phospholipids that restore and repair the appearance of sensitive, damaged skin while demonstrating significant and lasting effects on skin hydration and smoothness. Contains two soothing chamomiles (German and Roman), and protective calendula, carrot, and organic horsechestnut.
sorry about the length of the response. I thought you might want to see what it looks like. and I copied/pasted the website's product description. Hope this helps. I haven't tried the "soothing" line. But i do use the purifying moisturizer, and I love it.

Yes, the Daily Microfoliant is by Dermalogica. My anestitician uses it with a gentle spinning brush and it does a fine job without inflaming my skin which is a miracle.
Back to the moisturizers, the active moist is for combination skin which is good for the oily times. I just picked up the Hydrating masque and the Multivitamin masque which I'm hoping with hydrate my skin more during the winter.
I also just picked up the Multivitamin Power firm for eyes and lips so we'll see how that works too. I do like the Total eye care for daily use. I like the subtle shine if gives and it does tighten slightly but I don't find it very hydrating.
For a night cream, I still swear by Total Turnaround by Clinque. I hate almost all of the line but this seems to be the one thing they got right. It's also pretty hydrating. I did a break down of the ingrediants a while back in hopes of making a DIY version. |

I looked at the Intensive Eye Repair but it said it was for dry to ultra dry skin. I have to be careful with most products for dry skin as they give me milia >; ( |

Hi Gwynnie,
yes you are right! You should be careful with product that may cause milia. I have one site that you probably already know. They have information about milia and products.

Dermalogica Intensive was the only eyecream that did not give me milia. If you are prone to that condition do not use Aveda. It gives me a reaction everytime!! |

I would suggest the gentle soothing booster from Dermalogica for your sensitive skin. It will reduce redness of your skin as well as moisturize. And then dermalogica active moist over top of that. |

Hi BCgirl,
how does it work, how long do you wait before you put dermalogica active moist on the top of soothing booster? My skin is sometimes dry, would those products be enough to protect from wind and cold?
Thanks |

Laral,
Some days I mix a little in with my moisturizer and some times I dab it on problem spots like cheeks and nose for us rosecea-peppered folks.
Last night I mixed some of the skin renewal booster with my moisturizer and got a slight sting but none of the creeping red flush like in a full blown reaction. No redness when I woke up either and no dry patches on my cheeks. So it seems like the boosters are getting a thumbs up from me. |

It sounds like you have the same skin that I have! I have tried everything. Only thing that has worked for me lately after trying out 'natural' products of Hauschka, Jurlique, REN and some Decleor (I like Nutri-Delice), to mention a few, is Clarins for sensitive skin and haven't had a problem since. I am sure there are better products but this is the only one in a long time that's worked. Good luck finding something! |
