I have heard such good things about the Clarins Flash Beauty Balm and would love any feedback, I would really like to get hold of some samples first but the lady at the Clarins counter said no samples
Is this worth buying? I don't wear any foundation and yes my skin is slightly on the oily side but with my current skincare regime never appears oily.
I was deliberating over the MAC Strobe Cream too but for around the same price I thought if I am going to purchase then I may as well go with the Clarins |

My Mum has it and so I tried it out a couple of times. That was under foundation though so I don't think I really saw the benefits of this product. I wasn't impressed by it.
My Mum isn't a huge fan either. She prefers Barbara Daly's Face Lift (from Tesco). |

Yes I have tried the Barbara Daly face lift and was not keen, it did not seem to do anything, although my MIL loves it.
Have just seen that Boots No7 7 do a high lights illuminating lotion, has anyone tried this one? |

I used this product years ago because it was touted in a fashion magazine as being an essential item. But I didn't repurchase it because it felt rather heavy on my skin, and I never experienced the mattifying and tightening effects I'd read about. |

I feel Beauty Flash balm is a bit heavy too if you have oily-ish skin. It's a white lotion/cream that just feels like moisturiser ( actually it's veryyyy much like Nars Primer if you have tried that, in texture) and unlike silicon ones it doesnt do anything immediate or outstanding ....nor keep your makeup on longer. I know it isnt essentially just a primer...and you can leave it on in a thick layer as a mask.. but.....
Well, it was not different enough for me, nor did it give any visible results. I have bought 2 tubes ....once about 20 years ago when I was mid 20s and didnt care for it and then again a couple of years ago ( I dont know why I thought it would be different now!) and wont be buying a third. |

Thankyou so much for all your honest replies. If it is just ike a face cream then I do not think I would like it.
I get the feeling that I may be better sticking with Dr Hauschka's rejuvenating face mask, does the Clarins give the same results as the Dr Hauschka Rejuvenating? |

Beauty flash balm did not work for me either. I hoped it would help when I had been partying too too much in my student days but I looked just as tired after I'd used it as before. At least in these days it took several nights of non-stop partying to wear my face (and me) out.....unfortunately its now after 1 night and I find I now need to cover the problem with bare essentials clear radiance until I've cuaght up on my sleep!!! |

beauty flash balm as my understanding is for radience. gives you a glow. its not for wrinkles or tightening. it is for dull skin that needs a pick me up. I have used it and it works great when you first put it on, gives you a glow but i wear foundation and stuff so i dont know how much it works for all day wear.
if you get yourself a little sample bottle or have a little container, go to the clarins counter and ask the person working to put some of the beauty flash balm that they have as demos into your container so you can try it. |

I didn't like Beauty Flash at all. Gave no glow at all. Made my skin very sticky, that's about it. I haven't thrown it out just because of the big $$ I paid for it. |

If you have a Dillards department store near you, they have been really good about giving me samples from Clarins. They also put the tester in a small container if they are out of samples Clarins has many awsome products if Beauty Flash is too heavy. |

Hi dolcegal - Ditto the stickiness -- I'd forgotten that! |

I must be the only one who quite liked it. Under make-up or better still mixed with foundation I found it made my skin look smoother/healthier. But you can get a similar effect with something like Youth Lift by Gale Haymen where you can actually feel it working.
A new one I've tried off QVC is by Models Prefer, its slightly yellow tinted and has botanicals.
and another one I've bought is by Helen-e.com it's called a smoother but it's like a primer foundation in one so it does fill in the cracks...a much cheaper version of Este Lauder Futurist.
A decent primer should have the same effect but I guess it depends what you think of the ingredients.
I think much depends on how products sit on your skin and what you like using.
Will the Clarins woman give you a make over? and ask her to use the balm..that may work |

Eve I think a make-over is a good idea
That is interesting that a primer should give the same results |

I bought the Beauty Flash a few years back after reading all the writeups in the magazines. I can't say that I am impressed. I think it did work "as described" a few times for me but mostly it did nothing while being sticky and also tasting metallic (picture this, romantic evening, your other half moves in to kiss you and pulls back saying "yuck, your face tastes metallic!").
I got given a sample of the Beauty Flash Eye when that came out and thought that it was actually better than the Beauty Flash (not sure what the difference in ingredients is). |

I use Beauty Flash Balm but i don't think that it's suitable for oily skin. It seems to be good for dull dry skin that lacks glow. I have dry cheeks and i like the dewy look so i found this one giving me just what i want. But i don't put it under foundation cause it will not be clear. I put it either alone or after foundation and put it only on my cheeks because other parts of my face are normal-oily. |
