Apparently (according to my optician) I have oily tears which would account for the fact that almost all mascaras, including those that claim to be waterproof, leave me looking like a panda after a few hours!! Anyone know any really fab ones? I use either a very dark navy or black. ![Embarassed](images/smiles/redface.gif) |

I don’t know it was possible to have “oily tears” – and to think, all these years I’ve been blaming it on my oily eyelids instead! Seriously, though, I had the same problem for years and it got to the point where I wouldn’t apply mascara to my bottom lashes, even if it was a waterproof formulation, because it would smudge and give me raccoon eyes before lunch time! Happily, I have found an alternative to wearing traditional mascara (i.e.: tinting my lashes and using lash growth products to give me length and lush density) so I no longer need to worry about that anymore....
But back when I was still on the hunt for the world’s greatest waterproof mascara, I honestly never found one because I prefer burgundy or dark purple mascara and the waterproof formulas usually don’t come in those shades. What I ended up doing was apply a “rain coat” to my lashes after I applied my fave colored mascara, I think the one I used was from Clarins. Basically, this product is a clear, waterproof sealant that turns your ordinary mascara into a waterproof version.
One other possibility you might explore is would be one of the new-ish mascara formulations such as the Blinc Kiss Me mascara (I understand it comes in lots of great colors!), as it creates little “tubes” of color around each lash and is supposed to stay on through crying/swimming/going to the gym/etc. but comes off easily with a bit of warm water. Perform a search of the forum using “Blinc” and “mascara” as the keywords and it should return lots of results from other members singing its praises!
One last word of warning: waterproof mascaras are EXTREMELY damaging to the lashes so make sure that you use a lash conditioner like “Ardell Lash and Brow Growth Accelerator” or a bit of castor oil every night before bed to help keep your lashes in good condition! |

I really like L'Oreal's waterproof mascara (worn it to weepy events) and like the normal Maybelline Great Lash, though I haven't used the waterproof variety... |

Sheisido has a great one, very long lasting and smudge proof. |

I've found Maybellene's waterproof mascara the best for me. Doesn't flake or smudge and really does stay on after swimming. |
