I had a couple of samples of this so I saved them up together and used this cleanser for about a week.
It's a nice slightly citrusy scented lotion that does a good job in taking off most* makeup. While it is a lotion, it's not a creamy lotion that I was expecting. It's actually quite runny and has this certain texture that I can't quite articulate - like a more translucent lotion or a lotion mixed with maybe some gel (something along those lines - sorry, writer's block ). It is non-foaming so you just massage onto damp skin and then rinse off or wipe off (I did the former).
As I said, I have used this for the whole week, twice daily. I've had no problems at all with any breakouts or bumps, or with this drying me out. In fact, this cleanser is very nice in that it leaves skin (or at least my normal-typed skin) very comfortable after cleansing but without it feeling like there is any layer on the skin at all - in a word, just nice I was also using this to remove eye makeup (i.e. skipping the eye makeup remover step) and it did very well (with one exception, see below ). It also didn't sting my eyes at all even though I slathered it all over my lashes. It did sting once when I accidentaly poked myself in my eye with my finger but I think any cleanser can be forgiven for doing that
*Ok, so it appears that this cleanser has met its match. I was trying out the new Mary Kay mascara yesterday (see related review here if interested) and found that while the mascara was great, it just wouldn't budge! I did apply a fair bit of the mascara to begin with but I never expected to have this much trouble getting it off my lashes in the evening! I initially started by using this cleanser (of course, pretty confident that it would have no problem) and soon found myself moving on to the Cellcosmet cleanser, two eye makeup removers and then an oil cleanser to get the mascara off. So, it wasn't so much this cleanser in particular but the mascara or maybe the quantity of mascara that was the issue. So this is a disclaimer in that while it melts off my DiorShow, Clarins, Joey NY, etc mascaras - it does have exceptions. Also, while I had no problems removing eye shadow or eyeliner, I did have to massage around the eye area a bit longer when I did a quite severe smokey eye look (I would recommend using an eye makeup remover for this - even though the cleanser does work well, you are then massaging grey lotion around your face - still effective but definitely not pretty ). |
