Hi All,
So I've been using PTR's Cucumber Gel Masque, and I'm not really like it all that much. It's of this greenish-blue gel texture (imagine really liquidy Jell-o) and you're supposed to use it after extractions because it "calms" the skin. I use cucumbers for my eyes to diminish swelling when I'm tired so I figured I'd give this cucumber masque a try.
First off, it's difficult to tell how much to put on because once you put it on your face, you can't really SEE the gel. It's not like a normal clay masque where you can see the product. The gel is almost transparent on your skin so you're not able to really determine if you've covered all the spots. I just keep swooshing over areas of my skin -- not knowing whether I'm covering every spot. The other thing is that the gel is so light that you're not really able to get an even layer on your skin. Imagine applying a layer on your cheek -- if you rub your finger over that same layer, you'll end up REMOVING the product . . . and then you'll want to put some back over the same spot -- but then you'll remove some more product on other areas. It's just a tough thing because, again, you're not really able to see what's going on.
Don't get me wrong -- you can see the gel as you apply it -- but I'm so used to clay masks that the gel is something different.
After about 15 minutes, the gel is not dry like most clay masks (which is relieving because it's actually helping to hydrate and soothe your skin). BUT . . . after washing it off, I don't really notice any differences. My skin doesn't feel soothed (even after extractions). I have purposely done extractions right before I put on the gel and the gel really doesn't help the extraction-affected areas. On the contraire, Valmont's Dermatosic is GREAT for soothing skin after extractions.
All in all, I think I'd be better off cutting tons of cucumber strips and putting them all over my face than relying on PTR's Cucumber Gel Masque. It smells nice, and has a nice color, but I don't think I'll buy another jar of this once I'm done. I actually don't know what to do with the rest of the jar since I have no use for the mask -- it doesn't seem to do anything for my skin, so I guess I'll just apply it every so often to "play." Ha ha ha.
I'm still very loyal to PTR's sulfur cooling masque though -- so PTR's line isn't completely devoid of products that work for me. I guess the Cucumber Gel Masque is so "gentle" that drastic results aren't noticeable.
That's my two cents on PTR's Cucumber Gel Masque.

Helloo Chunlisa,
Thanks for the honest review on the PTR's Cucumber Gel Mask. It's funny that you mentioned about cutting up tonnes of cucumber strips and putting them all over your face as this is what my mum does !! I had only suggested that she cut up two slices to put over her eyes when she has her power nap but she went the extra mile with the cucumber and actually smears the juice over her face as a natural toner before her make up. Pretty unconventional stuff but it works for her!! haha
As for suggestions on what you can do with the rest of the jar (hope it's not near-full:o) you could use it as a coolant for after-shaving... or as a after-sun gel! OR even as an emergency stash for minor burns in the kitchen! hehe

Hi Lisa and Summertimegirl,
when I don't like a product I usually use it on my body, (assuming the product wasn't irritating in the first place). Moisturizers I don't like for my face become body moisturizers. I didn't like Murad's cleanser so I use it on my back. You could use the mask on your back, or on MUA.com you can do a swap with someone in exchange for a product they tried but didn't like, and you want. I don't know how hygienic this is. I personally wouldn't do it because I'm paranoid, but if you're brave you can give it a shot :P some people on that forum seem to have great success with it. |

Hi Lisa,
I tried a sample of this and i actually love this mask. Its smells nice and leave my skin well hydrated. Actually, i like this PTR mask more than my Sisley Flower Gel mask which i am using currently.
haha...guess, this is based on individual preferences, some like it and some don't.

Hi Skinlover!
I'm glad you like the mask. I think so many brands of skin products are so successful because of the fact that we all have different skin -- and different products work better than others, no? If you'd like the rest of my jar, feel free to send me your address. Actually, to be safe, you can send me a U2U message with your email. I'll email you and then we can exchange addresses or something. I'd be happy to send the rest to you as I don't think I'll use it too often -- at least not on myself ha ha ha. |

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your generousity, you are such a dear. However, I have too many masks to concentrate on at this moment...hee....just ordered the PTR Oxygen Mask and DDF Sulfur Mask. Maybe you can keep it for yourself and use it on your body like the others suggested. Anyway, thanks again. |

Great review, sorry to hear the product didn't work well with your skin, PTR have some real gems, though
I wonder if you've tried DDF's Sulfur Mask? Would love a comparison of PTR to DDF |
