My hands and feet have been really cold for the past 2 years. They are cold all the time!! My bf even make fun of me out of that but I'm starting to wonder if this is normal? or it's just me who has this problem.
I don't really feel comfortable with them though.. especially for my hands. They get even worst during the Winter times. Is there anything I can do? |

You could be Japanese! Japanese women suffer from this.. a lot of times it is poor circulation to the extremeties. Try doing dry skin brushing on your lower legs and forearms to stimulate blood flow and see if that helps.
I find my feet are ice cold if sitting too long as the circulation is cut off (sadly also makes them swell) |

I have the same problem year round and in the winter it's really bad. Keep meaning to ask my doctor about it but always forget . Been told from others it's poor circulation.
Hubby calls me the Human Ice Cube. My favorite toture for him is to wait til he's almost asleep then put my feet against the back of his thighs to see how high I can get him to jump to swipe more blankie for me!
I'm curious as to what others have to say about this. Maybe we can both find a cure! |

Thank you so much tiger_tim and Candy8865.
So now I know I'm not the only one who is suffering from this then I'll try the dry skin brushing method and see if it's gonna work or not.
Candy8865.. i also did somthing like that to my bf.. with my cold hands, I can always get my bf to scream when i put them on his face or his back |

I'm the same, and I'm sick to death of hearing the BF telling me I've got cold hands - as if I hadn't noticed??? But he doesn't mind the cold hands when he's hung over and I put them on his forehead He does mind them when I "do a Candy" though
anyways...I got "tested" by a biopath and started taking supplements and some sort of Canadian mixed oil with loads of the good stuff in (can't remember what they're called), and my hands have actually gotten warmer... I definitley think cold hands and feet have a lot to do with circulation... |

Hello girls,
I also have huge problems with cold hands and cold feet and since I need my hands because I'm a pianist and piano teacher, I went to a doctor about this a while ago. He confirmed for me that it was a condition that some people are prone to but that it was largely due to circulation. So since then, I've taken to trying to walk as much as I can, espcially in winter. If I can't do that, I often run up and down the stairs a few times and find that drinking hot milk helps.
Although the doctor, from what I can remember, didn't mention this, I heard from other sources that lowering your salt intake could also help. Not sure if anyone else can shed light on this?

when I was a kid I went to riding school. Where I come from (Stockholm/Sweden) we have long cold snowy winters...Riding in winter is a cold thing to do... To keep our hands warm we sat and swung them back and forth, pretty hard. That gets the blood flow going...just a little tip |

I have the same problem! Sometimes you girls read my mind b/c I was going to post it here as well!!!!
Just cold hands for me - it almost feels like I have been outside without mittens on and they are in that warming up phaze - weird.
I also have been told it's poor circulation.
I also do the same thing to my husband...we're so cruel He jumps out of his skin.
Another habit I have is constant rubbing of my feet in bed. I have done this since childhood - I just like to rub them...either against him or on the sheet. Now what the heck is up with that?

Me too!
In fact, I remember once trying to play a game with my young nephew. This involved black cards with a heat-sensitive surface. You were supposed to press your fingers against each card to warm it up and make text appear.
Whenever I tried, no text came up, but the cards did seem to go even blacker! My nephew was amazed and thought I was doing it on purpose! |

majorb, that's such a cute story!!!
I used to feel really self conscious about my condition, esp when I was younger and dating. I would always worry about what the guy would say when he found out my hands were so cold
i suppose now i'm older and wiser |

i have cold hands and feet too but luckily my boyfriend is always super warm so he likes it.
some say it could mean an iron deficiency or low iron count |

It's funny you mention the iron deficiency because that's another problem that I have. In fact I regularly take iron supplements. Hm, I wonder if there's a link.. |

Have you tried taking niacin? The regular (non-flush) always helps bring circulation to my finger tips and toes. |

I think most woman suffer from this problem..myself included. Yes it is partly due to the fact we have poor circulation. There are many reasons for this. The most common reason is generally due to having weak blood. If you go to the doctor and have your blood count done, it is very possible that the red blood cells are less. Woman menstrate, thus we lose blood every month, men do not! Another reason is that women (most) have colder bodies than men. This is due to our biological make up. If we eat a diet that has a lot of cold foods this does not help, such as: too much raw fruits, veg, dairy, cold water, ice, food directly out of the fridge.
What can help? The best thing to do is go to a health food store and get a food based supplement to boost the iron. Menopausal woman should not take any iron supplements. There are a number of liquid products that work very well. Salus Haus is a German product called Floradix that works really well. Take it from me, I have continually taken this product as the body can absorb the natural food based iron better than the tablets of synthetic iron. IF you eat a lot of red meat already then it may be the case of finding a good enzyme to help your body breakdown the meat to absorb the nutrients.
If you find you suffer from general coldness as well, modify your diet accordingly by avoiding cold foods. Try to eat warm foods and use ginger (great as a tea - you can take a fresh ginger root slice it in a few sections adn simmer it for 10mins in some water) Cayenne also works really well as a supplemnt to get the circulation moving, just make sure you take it in a capsule form!!!
If you follow these few tips it can really help warm thoes hands and feet.

Wow .. i'm a little bit surprised that many of us are suffering from cold hands and cold feet
Thank you so much for all the tips, you guys are so helpful!
Feliz, your tips are great.. I'll look into the iron stuff, and I like the idea of ginger.. I used to see my grandma drinking ginger water everyday but I didnt know why, i think this is probably the answer to it
Tina, I think walking is a good idea also because I usually sit all day and hardly walk, so we should walk more! I'm wondering about lowering salt intake... anyone can share with us?
BTW I saw Gehwol have the creams for cold feet, anyone tried them before?

I remember my hands being very cold while I was in middle/ highschool. It made me feel self consious, since it even made them break into a cold sweat. Same with my feet. Now, having grown a bit , I seemed to have 'grown out' of the icecube cold hands. However, it still happens on occassion.
But my feet are a different story. As I'm writing this, my feet are in some warm socks covered with two bedspreads. And guess what, they are FREEZING!!! They always seem to be cold no matter what I do. However, at the wierdest times, they'll warm up for a period of time, kind of freaky . That cream sounds like something I would try. I can't wait for anyone to respond with reviews. If not, I'll google it .
And Mariav, the whole foot rubbing (against sheets, own feet, his feet, etc.) is something I constantly do too. Its kind of like a restless thing, maybe?! |

I have that problem and I'm anemic. So that could be it. Sometimes I put my feet under my husband's legs in bed and he shudders. It's kinda funny actually. |

The problem with cold feet and hands is mainly due to some percentage of low haemoglobin, as I mentioned above. Believe me I know as I too have had this problem most of my life. It has dramatically improved as I try to be healthier...that life long quest!! My main educational background is in Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as Ayurvedic Medicine and Western Herbology/supplements. In that time I did learn many things that help or hinder a good state of health.
It is amazingly simple to change a few things in our lifestyles and really reap the benefits!!!

Feliz,
is there some types of herbs or food that you can suggest for this condition. I have had cold hands and feet all my life. And also the cold sweats (occasionally).

That the majority of us seem to have cold hands and feet is not a coincidence. Take one of those cold hands and feel your stomach or your lower back. I bet it will be much warmer, right? Women carry more heat in their centers for childbearing reasons. Our wombs are taking all of our warmth!
We also carry less muscle mass than men, which contributes to us just being colder in general. My boyfriend always complains that I am too cold (because he is always hot). It's mostly just the way our bodies are made up. Not to say that in some instances it couldn't be an iron deficiency or some other issue. But I find it hard to believe that we all have such poor circulation! |
