now my problem is
1. we don't get aspirin in Scandinavia, let alone the uncoated stuff
2. they don't stock ascorbic acid in the shops here
Aaaagh...we are so behind!
I've been cruising the net for a bit looking for ascorbic acid, but I haven't found any net shops in Europe. Only American shops, with $15 shipping fees... Is that what it costs in reality??? It can't be... and if it is it's rediculous!
So does anyone know of any European net shops selling L-ascorbic acid???... Cause I'm finally ready to try making my own...not that I've ever tried the "company manufactured" stuff, but I've developed a need for C-serum after reading you lot raveing away about it!
I would like to try the aspirin mask, but that isn't as much of a must as the c-serum (I think anyway)... but again, anyone got any ideas on how I can get a hold of a few?
I'd just like to try these things out!!!!
frustrating little country one lives in....terrible!

Oh Ruth! I feel ya! I wish someone would be able to help you out, because I can't! Shipping is outrageous from me to you, too. You do need someone from Europe to help out. I'm in Malaysia... |

Hi there,
Just a thought from another backward country (NZ). It is pretty hard to find ascorbic acid here but it is sold in little bags in the organic/natural foods stores, (of which there are only a few). Maybe it is available in such stores in scandinavia?? |

I've asked in a couple of healthfood shops - but with no real luck, they look at me as if I'm off my head.... |

Hi Ruth,
I had a thought last night ... it was one of those "Duh!" moments.
"Aspirin" is a brand name ... one that is so common over in North America that we forget it isn't the actual name of the drug ... just the most common brand name of said drug.
The drug itself is acetylsalicylic acid ... and I know that there is at least one brand name of this drug in Britain ... so I would imagine that the same would be true within Europe. I can't imagine that you don't have it.
However, if you still can't find that, can you locate White Willow Bark in a health food store? White Willow Bark is the natural source of Salic Acid ... and was, in fact, the source for the chemical production of acetylsalicylic acid in the first place.
It's the salic acid that is helpful to the skin. The tablets that we use have an additional benefit of being "gritty" when dissolved adding just a bit more exfoliation power ... although one has to be very careful as the tablet's grit could actually damage the skin if one doesn't massage it gently.
As for the l-ascorbic acid, see if you can locate Vitamin C tablets ... and contact the manufacturer to see if said Vitamin C is l-ascorbic acid. Also make sure that there aren't any additional ingredients in the tablets/capsules.
Good luck
Mary |

And if you still don’t have any luck after following up on the info Mary provided, I’ll be happy to send you a bottle of aspirin along with Vit-C crystals and propylene glycol for the actual cost of the items plus S&H which should come to around $8.50USD total (includes S&H). If you want to take me up on the offer, send me a PM with your full name, mailing address and PayPal Account Name. |

Thanx for info and offerings of help Mary and Carrie...much appreciated. One of our lovely friends is helping me out
It turns out that it's against the law to sell pure Vit-C here, well that's at least what one of the ladies, in one of the many healthfood shops I called the other day, told me anyway. She added that we have some very very strange regulations regarding things like this. |
