What is the difference between the PTR therapeutic sulfur masque vs. the PTR sulfur cooling masque? I am interested in trying this, but don't know which one to get.

Hi Thoughtcrime,

I can't tell you the difference between the two because I only use the sulfur cooling mask but maybe a description might help you decide if this is (or isn't) the one for you.

The sulfur cooling masque is a light green clay-type substance. It's one of those masks that will dry out if you don't re-cap it, you know? But I always put the lid back on and it's not dried out yet. It comes in a little tub instead of a squeeze-tube so you want to make sure you get the product out with something other than your hands so you don't contaminate the rest of the product as you get it.

The mask is really helpful for breakouts -- it's got a cool, tingy feeling (but of course -- why else would I use it ha ha ha) but it does dry out your skin (to combat the breakouts). When I feel a pimple forming or just feel that a part of my face is about to go nuts, I put the mask on as a saftey. It either brings the pimple to the surface or kills it on the spot -- either way, you'll get rid of the acne faster than if you do nothing at all (I think).

Because it's so drying, I usually only use it on the spots that need treatment -- on other spots, I use a Yonka mask or something else.

Hope this helps -- and I hope someone knows what the therapeutic mask is like so you can compare.

Lisa, it sounds like the sulphur cooling mask is quite active-- I'm gad that you clarified that it's not one that you would put all over your face since it's quite drying-- I always thought that masks were ones you covered your whole face with and let sit for a little while, while you read or nap out until it's ready to come off. Very Happy

On the point of products coming in tubs, just wondering if they usually come with their own little spatulas for application? Another good thing I like about Phytomer products is that each jar comes with a spatula so you don't have to finger it out--and the product stays "uncontaminated" WinkSmile

Thanks Lisa for another awesome and informative review. Your previous mention of the cooling mask in another review (I think when you were comparing the cucumber one) actually piqued my initial interest. I read on a dermatology sight, this one dermatologist recommending the therapeutic mask for tightening pores.
