I had my tear ducts plugged after I got Lasik surgery years ago. It did not help my eyes at all. The doctor did this twice on me, if I remember correctly. I also thought this hurt, nothing severe but it did hurt nevertheless. Sorry, can't be of any more help. Good luck to you. |

I suffered terribly with dry eyes and the attending infections on a regular basis with drops and antibiotics etc, my opthamologist wanted to plug my ducts too, he said he'd never seen anybody 'drain' at the rate I did - abnormally fast I guess.
Then I found an ND who told me to drastically increase my Omega 3 intake. I have done so and not had any trouble for the last two years. It might be worth trying. |

My cats' Vet had it done. It worked really well for her. |

Sffreak,
I have not had this procedure, but may eventually need it. Sorry I can't help you conceretly with that. But just in case this is of use:
Have you tried natural supplements to deal with this yet?
One of the most helpful things for dry eye are the Momega 3 fatty acids -- fish oil and flax.
i was suffering from dry eyes this year because for the first time in my life I'd had to take of antihistamines. Googling "dry eye" or some related expression pointed me to an optometrist who specializes in it and carries some products for it. I actually just saw him this week, because he's in NY. (last name Sclussel, if you want to see the products)
I had actually intended to post about my visit with him, because of course I asked him about the Jan Marini & Revitalash issue!
Anyway, fish oils are good for the skin, for cholesterol, for mental health -- seems like the most conservative approach if you haven't tried them yet, and if you don't have a clinically urgent case. |
