Hi Frodo,
Have you tried putting just macadamia oil on your lips? My lips are highly allergic (now I think I just found out the culprit is beeswax), so I have been experimenting with just putting oil on them. None of the oils made my lips allergic. I tried emu, argan, squalane, camellia, and now macadamia (just last night). Macadamia is the only oil that I put on and made my lips really soft. I woke up this morning and they were soft and moist still.

The reason I asked was that I was so very lucky to get to test this. I constantly battle dry, cracked and peeling lips. I bite off the dead skin to the point of making my lips bloody (sorry, graphic I know) and can't keep gloss or lipstick on because of this "biting" tendency. Every product I've tried seemed to soften and moisten my lips but really just sat on top of the dead, dry skin until it wore off.
Candessence Lip Service Treatment has the consistency of a gloss but it sinks in and hydrates beautifully. Be prepared though--if your lips are very dry and cracked, the first time you use the treatment, the skin will simply roll up and peel off in sheets. After that, your lips will be soft, firm and well-hydrated. This condition will last overnight! I used it the first time in the evening and the next morning my lips were still soft and plump.
Beware! This Lip Service Treatment will become an * spam alert *.
I know, I know, I always rave about Candessence products. And there ARE several I adore, I'll admit.
Try this if you battle very dry, chapped lips. You won't be sorry.

UPDATE:
I am informed that there is NO beeswax in the lip treatment.
I didn't think so but didn't want to commit in view of allergies.
