For a nice conditioning shampoo/conditioner I like to incorporate the more fatty oils with other base oils. For example I'd make a blend with oils such as, avocado, virgin coco creme or fractionated coconut oil, peanut oil, sesame oil, apricot kernel, almond oil and jojoba. You may also want to add some cocoa and shea butters as well for extra richness. For a lighter shampoo I would use jojoba, almond, camellia and maybe a hazelnut or macadamia nut oil. Neem oil is a great addition to both as it is very therapeutic for the scalp and hair.
As for essential oils there are lots of different ones you can use. Oils like tea tree, lavender, sandalwood, cedarwood, rosemary verbenone, and roman chamomile are popular but you can also use some nice citrus oils and more herby ones like sage, clary sage and marjoram as well. |
