When the follicle becomes filled with oil, dead cells,
and bacteria, it often swells and ruptures causing the debris to escape into the dermis.
The debris is irritating and causes an inflammation. White blood cells rush in to fight
against the bacteria and create pus, a sticky, yellowish secretion. This is the beginning
of a pimple and appears as an inflamed, red or blue-red lump.
When the overloaded follicle ruptures near the surface of the skin it
is not so serious and will usually heal rapidly leaving no permanent mark. However, if the
follicle breaks deeper underneath the skin, it will be more severe and may take longer to
heal, leaving permanent scars.
When pimples are pinched or squeezed, the infectious material can spread to surrounding
tissues, but common acne is not spread from one person to another. Unless proper treatment
is given, permanent scarring can occur.
Received my order today, thank you very much for the great service.
