Fall Fashion "must haves"
Fall 2000 redefines feminine beauty. Ladylike looks from the ‘40s mixed
with the ‘80s create an interesting mix of must-have clothing items.
Blouses. Blouses are reinvented this fall, ranging from ruffled to
bow tie, and act as a wardrobe staple.
Dresses. Basic silk tank dresses and knit shells are required
to show off those feminine shoulders and neck, as well as this season’s
makeup and hair.
Suits. Tailored suits trimmed with fur accents are hot this season.
Suits worn with animal prints, a French twist up-do and classical makeup create
a very happening look for fall.
Suits featured in tweed or pin stripes—worn with a matching hat—make a
strong comeback too.
Sweaters. Worn in a variety of fabrics, especially cable knit,
sweaters top this list this year.
Coats. Slim coats belted and trimmed in real or faux fur are all the
rage this season. Think leather and suede when it comes to fabric choices.
Shoes. Shoes are featured in a range of options. Racy pumps, pointed
boots that come up to the knee or ankle, open-toe sandals, sling backs and mules
are key. For a fashion twist, focus on unexpected colors and textures such as
exotic snakeskin.
Accessories. Bold and beautiful accessories add the finishing
touch to Fall 2000’s look. Mixed and matched, accessories include embellished
rhinestone bracelets, bags and chokers to create a
whimsical, yet ladylike, edge for
fall. Belts, wide to ultra thin, and pocketbooks in classic shapes—doctor
totes, shoulder straps and carry-on’s——add the finishing
touch to Fall 2000.
Prints. Classic plaid
prints for skirts, jackets and slim coats are the fabric of designers’ choice
this fall.
Colors. The colors to focus in on for fall are red, burgundy, wine,
magenta purple, brown and gold accents
Lavender
Lavandula hydrida—lavender—enhances
well-being to combat fatigue. It’s scent is familiar and is regarded as one of
the most versatile essences, therapeutically. Its harmonizing
and balancing effects are most welcome after a hectic day.
How-to: French Twist
Up-do’s are where it is at this fall season. Think
traditional classics with a twist—French
twist that is! Fall 2000’s up-do’s are not only fresh and feminine, but they
keep the focus on the face as well.
Always wanted to know how to do a French twist? Follow these nine steps; you’ll
need about 35—40 minutes to complete the hairstyle.
Shoulder-length hair is easiest to handle.
Step 1:
Add mousse or gel to damp hair to give your hair more
texture.
Step 2: Roll large sections of hair together, and set your
hair with large Velcro rollers from front to back. This step adds volume and
smoothness to the hair.
Step 3: Using
a blow dryer on a warm setting, warm the rollers for a few seconds, then allow
hair to cool before removing the rollers.
Step 4: Remove the rollers.
Step 5: Brush
the back and sides of hair smooth, then pull to one side. Leave your bangs out
for finishing touches. (See Step 8.)
Step 6: Begin bobby pinning the hair at the nape of the neck, moving
up in a straight line.
Step 7: Take the hair that was pulled to one side and roll it over
the pinned section in a twist. Pin as you go to keep it from falling. Tuck the
ends of the hair into the twist.
Step 8: Take your bangs and pin them back or to the side loosely to
frame your face.
Step 9: Spritz
with holding spray.
